Introducing Mutiny Gifts: Onboard someone to Bitcoin by simply showing them a QR code. Once they scan the QR code, it will load up Mutiny Wallet on the web, allowing them to redeem the Bitcoin. Mutiny Gifts is self-custodial through the whole process. Funds stay in your wallet until the receiver redeems it. You can revoke access at any time if the gift is not claimed. All thanks to the magic of NWC. Gifts is our first Mutiny+ paid-only feature. Anyone can redeem a gift, but you need to be a paid user or self-hoster to create one. Here's a gift for a lucky person! Be the first one to scan this from your mobile phone and you'll receive 50k sats. image

Feature request right away - I want to be able to pre-print QR codes and then charge them with sats at a later point. This is for tipping in the hotels.
I'd even add a time factor then. Use case: - Print a QR sticker, every 100 blocks replenish the faucet with some set amount of sats. Make them available for claim for the first n users. - Stick it somewhere in the streets. On the public transport, etc. - Or listen, my dream use case which I thought about for a while and didn't know how to do. Go climb some tough mountain, post in at the top as a Bitcoin geocache. (Make bitcoiners climbers and climbers bitcoiners). It could probably be adopted quite extensively for zapvertising as well.
Faucet is good too, but for hotel tipping gotta be different codes as there might be more than one unclaimed tip with different amounts.
Yea. But what's abuse threat vector here. Semisol can't be at the top of every mountain, at every random time frame. Normies would just scan and follow the instructions.
Looks very convoluted (get sats when gifter is online?) Why not wait for, or work towards, LN offline payments? AFAIK all major nodes are working on BOLTs that will allow that, which is a proper solution.

This is really cool. One request would be to clear up the UI when the gift is already claimed. Having it report back that it either timed out or was already claimed are very different possible problems.
I did come up with handful of thoughts how to exploit it too. 😬 Someone just takes a picture/screenshot saves it. Plugs it into a script which will just run 24/7 attempts for milking it. And the donor would struggle to find out. But yea, there might be ways to minimize the risk, do it with non-adversary audience only, built some not protections, ..
Could be a cool contest type of thing with a one time use sticker. Put it on a summit, announce it and off to the races.
Have used @lightsats a lot, yeah. Allows you to generate physical cards with QR codes or word codes to redeem, which you can hand out to Uber drivers and bar tenders.

@npub1ppls...hmwx @OpenSecret It would be interesting to see this used for advocacy, for example, to give bitcoin via lightning to the CA Governor / Governor's staff embedded in messages sent against AB 39 / asking for a veto of AB 39. Or when advocating against other anti-bitcoin bills, the same thing, sending bitcoin gifts along with the message so that all legislators receive the gifts regardless of their views.
