I use sats, because everyone my age thinks the word “bitcoin” is cringe af. “Sats” is a humanizing term for real people. “Bitcoin” sadly has such a negative connotation to those real people due to the scammers.

If bitcoin feels "cringe", then the mainstream psyop architects have programmed you correctly through their algorithms. When you stop consuming and start producing, linguistics preferences affect you less.
Oh so anything a scammer goes after needs to be renamed? We just let scammers upend everything? I think I'll stick with Bitcoin.
Reality is, at 100K, people will buy bitcoin in the unit of sats. It makes sense. Saying I bought 200K bitcoins when you have bought a fraction of one whole bitcoin is mental, and does not make sense.

I asked my youngest to send me an address from his cash app so I could send him his birthday sats. He did. I did. He was appreciative and I love him. Several hundred dollars transferred in less than a second for network (lightning) fees of less than 1/5 of a cent. My wife says we need a term for an amount = to about 1,000 sats. For now. Lol.

What's your thought on the OP_Return situation?
Most of the general public are poor and have no understanding of money either..
There is Bitcoin as planned: perfect money, get off zero, stay humble and stack sats, decentralised value movement, censorship resistance currency, the money for everyone, the majority of the world will use Bitcoin blah, blah, blah. And then there is Bitcoin as done, in reality, right now: fuck all people using it daily, mempools barley clearing, less than 1% global market penetration for daily users, your dad and granddaddy not interested one iota, 16 years deep and you are the only person at your workplace stacking away. Avoid listening to the masses at your own peril. Being inflexible in the semantics realm will leave you high and dry.
Emm ya, sats sounds friendlier, no scammers have tainted. Normalize ‘using sats’ makes Bitcoin feel more relatable, more like bucks instead of dollars. Less hype, less baggage. Stack sats, ignore scams.⚡

The wallstreet scum bros really did everything they could to remove trust and confidence around the name Bitcoin. 100% I believe it was intentional, to slow down and reduce the rate of adoption. Now those same people are trying to rename sats to Bitcoins just to make it more confusing for people to slow down adoption.
"Bitcoins" have a negative connotation because scammers And now some idiots want to change SATs to Bitcoins makes the whole thing seem like a scam to people who are paying less attention. When it's actually just USA corporations and wallstreet investment companies and scammers pushing for the change

Good point an echo chamber is exactly what the mob follows rather than logic. 👍
