Don’t abandon and delete your social media accounts elsewhere. Use those accounts to bring your audience to Nostr. That’s the way we grow, by bringing people over. If you delete your account and never post elsewhere it’s like you’ve gone dark to most people and that doesn’t help.

DO BOTH. SHILLED NOSTR FOR A YEAR BEFORE DELETING X. REMOVING YOUR CONTENT, MAKING IT NOSTR EXCLUSIVE, AND DECLARING REAL CONVICTION MATTERS.

I think you're referring to @odell. If not, this still applies. I understand your point, but when you're trying to extricate from the legacy system, staying in it, isn't extrication. Just like you get BTC at the price you deserve... You get freedom the same way.

alldata analyzed & winds of change here/imo deck has been dealt/anteUp r u in or out/ inthemix2fix/f'n junkie, sorry allthebest!
Been battling with this recently Our attention is so key though Ie if I truly focus on Nostr, the experience will be far better, specifically as a content creator, to truly figure out how best to use it But then leaving behind audiences seems like a cost. But at what point does your X following become a bad debt / sunk cost? & you’re better off cutting losses Def something to think on for a day or so

Too late. 🤷🏻‍♂️
That’s the way. If you have large audiences in your other accounts and close them, how are you supposed to attract more users to #nostr? With the power of your convictions? 🙄

I'd say, use those accounts or platforms to drive traffic here. Let me explain. You open a store but no one knows about it other than the people within the neighbourhood. If you want to reach out beyond your town and neighbourhood, you need to have online exposure. You need somehow to use your existing accounts(tikrok, x, fb, etc) to focus about #nostr and drive them to come here. Yes, #nostr has a lot of opportunities. However, all is good for the early adopters . But for non-tech savvy, non-bitcoiners and slave to the centralised social media, it would not mean anything to them unless it affects their livelihood or affects the stuff that they truly cares — access to those platforms, family and income. So how do we invite them? Use the same platforms to raise awareness. Btw, this strategy was used by Tiktok that made Tiktok the way it is now (one of). People love incentives, other than censorship-resistant, what else can we offer? How do we convince people with over decades of work built on those social platform to move here? This is worth a ponder that our community must take seriously if we want to expand. Lastly, let's not forget to focus on the fundamental non-functional requirements for #nostr — relays' security (not long ago we were bombarded by spams and from a decent source, we have not had pentesting done for nostr). Food for thought. 🫂❤️

This platform isn't as angelic as claimed to be. There are other better platforms in terms of experience.
I really do think nostr needs a 'ehat are they building over there's presence on perhaps substack and twitter. A regularish press release -style update on the projects here. OpenSats does this to some extent with what they are finding, but also including new independent projects and also their progress. But in a quite dry trade press style (I think the OpenSats grant report is well written for this sort of thing). What I mean is to not include 'waahey purple ostrich freedom tech, look at this lame memes about the price of bitcoin'. Just a to the point run down of developments, with the occasional big announcements. I think WeDistribute sort of do this (along with Bluesky and fedi etc), but perhaps they've not really got their finger on the pulse of Nostr and this would be solely nostr. Obviously I'm not the person to do this. And perhaps it exists already(?)

Setting aside the subjective nature of “better” and “experience”, I’m curious what platforms you’re referring to? Also, (while semantics are generally annoying), nostr is a protocol, not a platform. Meaning that any number of platforms or experiences can be built on nostr, or brought to nostr, and plug directly in to the tech, user base, etc., which can’t be said of any other (purportedly) decentralized communication systems that I’m aware of. Protocols > platforms, etc etc (I recognize that I am obviously am a huge proponent of Nostr, and biased in that way, but it’s because I have had an unparalleled experience here, and so it’s simply honest when I say I believe this is the best, most robust/resilient, and enjoyable option out there).
I can’t see this being very effective given that posts about nostr are buried by the algorithms. Also imho it’s just not worth all the personal data those apps are harvesting.
TRADITIONAL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS TEND TO LIMIT THE REACH OF CONTENT ABOUT BITCOIN AND NOSTR. I EXPERIENCED THIS WHEN I HAD A PROFILE ON TIKTOK AND YOUTUBE, POSTING PODCAST CLIPS FOCUSED ON BITCOIN WITH DYNAMIC EDITING. I ENDED UP LOSING MONETIZATION ON BOTH PLATFORMS, WHICH LED ME TO DELETE MY ACCOUNTS AND SHIFT MY POSTS TO NOSTR. IN THE BEGINNING, THE NETWORK EFFECT IS CHALLENGING BECAUSE THERE’S NO ALGORITHM TO BOOST YOUR CONTENT, BUT ONCE YOU OVERCOME THAT, GROWTH IS MORE STABLE AND SOLID, AS YOUR CONTENT WILL NEVER BE DELETED OR DEMONETIZED. THERE’S NO NEED TO PROMOTE NOSTR, AS SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS THEMSELVES DO THAT THROUGH CENSORSHIP, PUSHING PEOPLE TO LOOK FOR ALTERNATIVES AND EVENTUALLY DISCOVER NOSTR.
Agreed. But just be careful what you say on those “honey pots,” they’re making a list and they’re checking it twice ….
