Spent the afternoon at my brother-in-law's chocolate shop. He's the head chocolatier, and watching him hand-pour caramel and temper chocolate... it's an art. He's been wanting to do his own thing for a while. I know @Avi Burra claimed nostr is ded, but is there enough interest here for a bitcoin and Nostr based chocolate company? I showed my BIL what @SoapMiner is doing and he’s genuinely interested. Pay in sats, handmade by a craftsman. He's not even on Nostr yet, I guess the first step is to try and onboard him!

Very cool! Real craftsmanship 🤩 PoW chocolate!
Probably a good idea to both at the same time. Start small, build reputation and prove that there is a market. Scale up from the kitchen level production once demand exceeds it.

Nostr isn't ded. It's just in a rut right now. Same as Bitcoin, when it was as old. Tell him to do it! You're not losing anything by trying. Success comes to those that take chances. Not the ones that sit on the sidelines. If he needs any help, have him reach out to me.
I will! I think he’d enjoy how grassroots it would be here. Are you only Nostr or do you sell other places? I hear your zapvertising on RHR? How does that work out?

I got my start here. Once it grew, I did go to Xitter, and I try to advertise a little. Started my own site, and now I work for myself. Bitcoin is money, doesn't matter where you're at, it's still the tool of money.
Where’s he getting his cacao from? Maybe we could team up! @Bitcoin Beans we have access to single origin cacao, proof of provenance, and our cacao is independently lab tested for heavy metals which come out well below the USD and EU levels. We would be very happy to speak further.
Wicked man. Send us a DM if you/ he would like to talk further. Just so you know, we are a bitcoin only company, we pay our farmers in Bitcoin and receive sats. Additional bonus for working with us!!
Hey DOC! This post reminded me and I looked back at our DMs (yeah they actually worked lol) but back in late 2023 you messaged me about this. Do a quick thought exercise to show your brother in law what could have been if he did [fill in the blank] amount/percent of volume over the past 2.5 years and saved in bitcoin through the volatility etc. Always happy to help if you have questions but my setup is similar to others. Only bitcoin & run btcpayserver... With the FOSS tools today you can start small, scale, and not need to spend a ton of infrastructure if he's already up and running. Can't wait to buy some chocolates with sats!
I know, he could have been stacking this whole time 😭 Life happened though and he had a baby in that time so got super busy. But he’s in a great spot now and I feel like I could manage the store and payments for him so it’s time to revisit. If you were starting again, would you still go with BTC pay server? Or are there better solutions at this point?
How is this even a Y/N question? Get him on here and #TakeMySats This is exactly the kind of business that would absolutely THRIVE on a Bitcoin standard.
The startup costs are so low at this point it’s not really a valid question anymore. What stack do you recommend? I’ve seen btcpayserver but I remember that being pretty complicated to setup image
I always recommend BTCpayserver. It’s gotten much easier with things like @Umbrel ☂️ and @Start9 now to get set up and manage. New version of Start9 allows for configuring tunnels and exposing to clearnet super simple. At the base you can connect that to a simple Wordpress site (one click plugin) or @Oshi vibe coded his slick custom website around a BTCpayserver backend on his start9 box.
I think btcpay is the GOAT for sales and automation and it just works once set up. It's also one of the most sovereign. I think it's best if you want a full end to end solution. It would be hard not to use the take my sats website if just starting out as proof of concept. Then in parallel, if going well, build your site and integrate btcpay.

I'm not chocolate fan but my wife certainly is. And if I can buy her treats for Bitcoin. All the better!!
I’m still learning how to buy coffee with sats. With enough zaps I would buy chocolate with sats too, but I’m far from there now. Also the chocolate company has to be legally registered and all, so people don’t accidentally fall into a trap of buying smth random they don’t know what they’re getting themselves into🪤
You can get him set up selling on ! Supports normie friendly sign-in options and fiat payments (if he wants them) while still being Bitcoin and Nostr native. Also gives you the ability to customize your storefront and connect personal domains on top of the general marketplace. Happy to grant him a lifetime account if he decides to stick around with it!
Nostr is doing just fine. Carve your own path, offer something unique! Chocolate boy here myself so I love to see this!!
