I have a question for nostr content creators. Why do you talk about decentralisation and growing nostr only to then drop your YT links bouncing user from nostr to YT. If you care about the growth of nostr then upload your content to nostr and share it natively without bouncing users or expecting them to have a YT, Instagram, Twitch, TikTok account.

Talking about nostr on YouTube and other platforms probably helps spread the word. So I actually think it's a good thing. Also there aren't many people here.
Would be cool if there was a client that scraped relays for media content and organized it into an app by category. Could take it a step further and enable people to create a "channel" page based off of media in notes posted by their npub and have a place to deliver that content. But we don't really have that yet. I don't begrudge video content creators for hosting their content elsewhere at this point
Ideally you'd have a scenario of a content creator ending their YouTube video with you can also follow me on nostr, or some such thing.
aren't you doing the same on YT? Also, there has been plenty of occassions of creators having their channel deleted on YT (often unjustified) only to then take to centralised social media to complain about centralised YT having deleted their decentralisation content. The true story is they get pissed of with YT having cut of their fiat monetarisation source.
I've been thinking about this actually. My content is mainly about the carnivore diet and most of my audience so far is 45+, which makes sense, they're the most likely interested in returning to a healthier state. So that has me at my dilemma, go for decentralisation now and have a lower impact on the people who could benefit from this or choose to grow an audience there first (I barely started my YT channel) and then switch later on to Nostr. Also, my content is in Spanish and it seems the Spanish speaking community is nowhere near as big as the English speaking one.
This is quite common already even outside of Nostr. A lot of people stream on multiple platforms, rumble, twitch, yt. Rumble chat seems most ignored on a lot of streams I've seen. But merely mentioning is a good thing to spread the word and all that. Even if it is in a small way. I've never used Entropy for example, but I've heard of it cos people multistreaming often mention it
Also look at flare's front page, it is pretty much only for nostr people. It's half a page of a bitcoin advert. It's very poor imo
The fiat equivalent of the advanced plan on nostr.build is 250000 sats -> $157 for 100GB of storage. YouTube price: $0 Dropbox price: $120 (20x the storage) pCloud price: $50 (50x the storage) It will take time to convince people to use stuff that is more expensive, less convenient
would you consider sharing your content on both platforms natively? Like uploading a video to nostr and to yt then promote it accordingly to nostr and legacy media? I agree that the Latino speaking community is smaller on nostr compared to other languages but latinos are still a good part of this community. I think you just might have to use the right tags to get your content to the right audience.
Yeah I suppose that's solvable (no idea lol). But imagine you went to odysee and half the page is an advert for their shitcoin, and most of the videos are AI image thumbnailed videos about their shitcoin. That's what flare looks like. Imo again lol

Large scale distributed file hosting is pretty much unsolved in nostr just most everything else is unsolved in its architecture.
you host them yourself and you pay for the hosting. value4value and full circle economy doesn't work if you share remote content to collect zaps.
Stream from zap stream -> Re-Stream to Legacy Social Media -> Chill zap.stream -> Download your Stream With the Highest Quality -> Edit Stream -> Upload edit to @nostr.build or @Stuart Bowman satellite -> keep edits as backup (optional) -> Publish to the #nostr verse. That’s my personal way to both use the “free” services and not chill YouTube links or any other. IMO, I want to people to come in, not to push people out into other “free” places.

Flare is slow for me :( I agree the bitcoin add should go already. Make it friendly to all and improve performance 💪
Looks similar but not apples to apples.. Can’t just look at storage, no acct user I know have has hit their limit. What’s way more important are the features the above don’t offer: - no ads (YouTube premium = $168) - 3 AI Image generator models (DallE= $240 / midjourney = $96) - nip96/98 - direct integration with nostr apps (only nostr.build) - Strip location/metadata (Dropbox and iCloud don’t offer this) - Global CDN (Dropbox and iCloud don’t offer this) - 24/7 online, personalized support directly from the devs 👋 (try that with any of the above)
Like Carlos stated, that’s beyond controversial. Not only do we remove it, we report it and all evidence to authorities including NCMEC. We do daily reviews of all content just for that. If from nostr, we remove all of their related media and block their npub. Even AI generated smut.. No exceptions whatsoever. If I could find some of those sick fucks I would take care of them myself..
Invidious is being blocked by YouTube, and same with Piped getting attacked.
The way I do it for both of my YouTube channels is for onboarding purposes. I place the link to my Nostr in the description of both channels, and don't talk about them.
True, however, it is possible to keep switching instances. Not ideal, but better than direct YT links.
Is there an alternative for Nostr right now or flare.pub it right now? Besides standard posting videos to notes I mean.
You can use satellite.earth 's CDN then drop the links into your content. Zapstream has clips but no upload feature and not sure if that's coming. But yeah no real clip/videos alternative to flare yet. Afaik
