Good morning
Every single Friend/family I recommended cold card to IRL thankfully did not get rekt, walked all of them through moving coins yesterday
Still so embarrassed, like many of you I'm sure you're the "Bitcoin guy" of your circle - and basically have no good advice to offer people.
Multisig is basically a non-starter for most, passphrases are good but normies be re-using passwords everywhere, and I can't say for certain any hardware wallet is safe on it's own
I don't know what lessons to draw here, except never recommend anything again, retire myself as the Bitcoin guy

I have been recommending BitKey as the normie path forward.
I am officially retired as the Bitcoin guy. I am never recommending anything again. So fucked. Glad to hear no one close to you got rekt.
What you reccomend them to move the coins? Some hot wallet?
Some were pure luck, didn't use dice or passphrase, I thought for sure they would be dead
Told them to send back to the exchange until we figure out what the hell is going on
Coinbase FTW π

For nostr people yes, that's my personal setup, but I think normies will probably fuck it up and lose based on their own negligence
Few people forgot their pins we had to do seed recovery yesterday
Sad as fuck but like, clearly they are safer than the most cypherpunk airgapprd larp
Good morning βοΈπ§‘
Bitcoin guys retiring across the board. Orange pilling a dead profession. If you haven't gotten on board yet, you're screwed.

Good morning. I recommended gathering Bitcoin to everyone I know, but no one listened to me except my parents, and even my parents didnβt transfer it from exchange. It was a bit frustrating, but this time it seemed like my parents were right. Even if it just means paying a bit more in taxes, I think itβd be better for my parentsβ Bitcoin to stay there.

Never great when a convo starts with:
Soooo donβt panic butβ¦ you got to move your ass
I do the same most of the time.
For those who wish to go the extra mile though, I wish there was an easier way where someone could generate a seed using some other kind of method, where real world entropy was added, without trusting any device product.
I get that. We just learned not to trust device entropy.
Exactly, this was always a known issue, but I didnβt expect this day to come so soon.
Have you looked at Trezor? Device CC cloned and altered the license? GL
The bottom is in
I've been working on a book about self custody, but I don't intend to recommend any hardware wallets. I am going to show different ways of generating entropy without an RNG.

Don't trust, verify.
Time and cycles. Trust and verification. This event will cause some sleepless nights and trust is gone amongst many but the incentive to maintain trust for other hardware manufacturers will increase and one would hope, increase transparency for third party verification. The use of ai as a threat vector identifying multiplier must be recognized as something to consider. Wake up calls rarely comfortable
As far as I know, hex-dice cannot be built in a topologically fair manner. Also, hex dice are niche and hence potentially vulnerable to supply chain attacks.
High precision D6 are widely available, and much easier to manufacture.
Please reconsider.
Standard dice are a good tradeoff between number of rolls, ease of use and availability.
