This post proves exactly why Nostr matters and why people like you will never understand it. You claim Nostr is for Bitcoin maximalists and lazy tech posers. Then you spend paragraphs screaming into the void about how hurt you feel because strangers on the internet didn't bow to your genius. The irony is so thick you could build a protocol on it. Let's address the actual substance here. You say Pubky is strictly better but offer zero technical arguments. Just vibes and wounded pride. That's not innovation, it’s an ego with a GitHub account. You talk about being ignored and insulted. Welcome to building in public. Every creator here has faced rejection, criticism, and silence. The difference is most of us kept building instead of writing tantrum posts about how the world doesn't appreciate us. Nostr was never about being the best protocol on paper. It's about being the one that actually works, that actually resists censorship, that actually lets people speak without asking permission. It's imperfect by design because perfection is what centralized systems promise and then take away. You say Nostr wants loyalty and tribal behavior. Look in the mirror. You're the one declaring war on an entire community because they didn't validate your superiority. Real builders don't need the crowd to cheer. They build because the work matters. And to everyone reading this who's been told they're not good enough, not technical enough, not worthy enough. You belong here. Your voice matters. Your work has value even when it goes unnoticed. Keep building. Keep showing up. The people who matter will find you. Suffering builds character. Rejection builds resilience. And communities like this one grow stronger when people choose to create instead of destroy. You want to call us losers larping as Satoshi. Fine. We'll be over here building something that outlives all our egos. Including yours. The best response to hate is not revenge. It's a future so bright they can't look away. Keep going.

You don't understand how biased you are for an unimpressive solution. We didn't skip building on Nostr out of ego. Nostr is not relevant to anyone but Bitcoin maximalists (because they are the only ones gullible enough to think Nostr is amazing). We don't build on Nostr because when we did try to give our ideas to Nostr people they were totally ignored and insulted. Our designs are not new, and they predate Nostr. Believe it or not, our work inspired Nostr, not copied it. Pubky is strictly better than Nostr. There is literally nothing better about Nostr aside from having some (decreasing) users. Useful people aren't welcome to build on Nostr. You have to be some kind of fake-famous blessed-by-Jack-or-Odell asshole to work here. Nostr wants loyalty and tribal behavior, and we aren't in your tribe so we don't get any respect. So, fuck you, and fuck everyone that thinks Nostr is a holy grail, or anything special at all. Because the design is bad, and the community wouldn't let you save it if you tried. Nostr is for Bitcoin Podcast listeners that want to feel like they understand tech, but are too lazy to actually learn. You don't care about solving problems or helping people. You care about being "cool" with your fake internet friends. Have fun staying on nostr, I don't care because the world is actually a better place when losers like you stay away from other platforms. X is better without such people. Pubky too. Nostr's best feature is gathering moronic losers into one place. I'm only here to save the people that ended up here by mistake. The rest of you can go back to your stupid life larping as Satoshi. View quoted note β†’

For what it's worth, after this petty meltdown, an equally petty putdown was given in lieu of my initial intent to just leave a short and sweet retort of moderate wittiness. It's telling that he's never responded to any subsequent comment of mine while continuing to do so with other Nostriches more generally insulting him (not to say they're not justified in doing so, mind you); it's clear directly hitting where it hurt most left the most impact.

The response from the corporate CEO of a competing protocol that is definitely not mad that I called him out on his bullshit. For the record as well, I am not an Epstein-Blockstream Coin (EBSC) maxi; I am an ACTUAL Bitcoin (Cash), Monero and Pirate Chain maxi, because I understand the value of uncompromised and/or truly private internet money with both inherent and realized value. I'm sorry that my direct shot at your unwillingness to gather a group of like-minded developers and create in spite of the Nostr Eliteβ„’ so thoroughly threw you into a triggered tantrum that it could rival an average meltdown from the likes of Low Tier God (or any equivalent lolcow of your choice). May we both pray for Tether to not have another liquidity crisis that results in billion dollar losses at the time Pubky most needs funding. :^)

Both can and do exist. But only one of these protocols was built on the principle that nobody gets to tell you you don't belong here. So I'll keep pushing back when someone tries to convince people they made a mistake by finding this place. Not because I hate Pubky. Because I love what Nostr represents for people who've been told they're not welcome everywhere else. We can all build. We can all win. And you’re right that we don't have to tear each other down to do it.
I don't enjoy being shit-talked by devs.. No one does. It only worked for so long, because their abilities supposedly enabled our abuse, but now there is AI and this will not stand any longer. Basically, if you're (they're) gonna lash out about how stupid bitcoiners are, or how stupid people building on nostr are, well the odds of me joining their cause plummet. I'm an integrator, a builder, a collaborator that also (shocker) can code. And I hate dealing with assholes despite it being so common in the industry. I will cheer when AI and 'stupid' but working code replaces all of them and they can just troll to a blank audience and struggle to survive in this new world where being a dick is no longer rewarded behavior.
Yeah... I know both sides exist because I was there too. And like you said, nobody has to tear each other down over it. This whole thing has been ongoing since I came to Nostr. John against Nostr, Nostr against John... but honestly I can also understand him to some degree. Maybe he just doesn’t want a certain crowd there and that is also his right. When you build something, you naturally want some control over the direction of it. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ At the same time, I also know what it feels like to be on the other side of that. A lot of people clearly don’t want people like me on Nostr either. I’ve been told to fuck off from Nostr directly many times, and even more times indirectly if you know how to read between the lines. I see what some people do here and honestly some of it isn’t nice at all. Still... even with all that, I’d choose this over legacy social media any day. But people also need to stop pretending gaslighting and elitism don’t exist on Nostr because they absolutely do. I’ve experienced it on my own skin. The moment you question something, some devs and their supporters instantly go into this point-blank jackass mode where they act like you are stupid for even asking. It’s like in some parts of the IT scene everyone thinks they are the smartest person alive just because you use their product, so you should just shut the fuck up and never question anything. God forbid you ask AI to clarify something technical for you too. 🀣 I got attacked and gaslighted by M and a whole group of supporters literally just for questioning nonsense that was pushed in my face the second I entered this place. And honestly, some Nostr influencers and devs are not much better than legacy platforms when it comes to manipulation, shutting people down, or acting rude if you disagree with them or don’t understand technical things immediately. I also saw shady stuff happen with Primal. Derek says a word and suddenly actions happen to push somebody out. Since I came to Nostr, a lot has changed and way more centralization has crept in than people want to admit. So yeah... I understand both sides. I just hope people calm down a bit and stop acting like asking questions or disagreeing makes someone an enemy. Because this constant gaslighting, arrogance and hostility toward normal users happens every single day on Nostr whether people admit it or not.
Ur the worst, I can tell. Whoever works with you IRL probably on suicide watch and you love that. *pathic whatever, enjoy your troll, the engagement you get from engaging me on this prob the highlight of your week. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ idgaf I hope it does engage you. I can see people like you a mile away and I can just smile cause I don't have to work with you, at all.
I hear you. I’ve seen it. I know it all exists. When someone gets toxic you don't need permission to escape. You just go. You take your keys and you find people who treat you like a human. John wants control over his direction. Fair. But he doesn't get to claim moral superiority while demanding people abandon a protocol that lets anyone build without asking. That's the whole point. Nostr isn't holy, it’s open. And open means the door swings both ways. The moment Nostr becomes what he's accusing it of is the moment people fork it and leave. That's the beauty. The exit option keeps everyone honest. Centralization can't stick here because the code doesn't allow it. People will find other clients that keep freedom free. That's how decentralization works. So yeah. Call out the assholes. Call out the elitism. Call out the influencers playing king. But don't confuse the people with the protocol. The protocol doesn't care who feels blessed. It just works. And people like you who've been kicked around and still choose freedom. You're exactly who this was built for.

That's "frphank". FRP means functional reactive programming. Long story, don't ask.
