It’s going to be tough because I don’t think Russia will willingly let him leave. Even with a full pardon he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. He’ll have better luck near the end of trumps term if the war resolves with a detant between America and Russia.

Yeah I don’t see a future where he isn’t stuck there, barring a big concession to Putin on something. I don’t believe for one second that he ended up there by accident.

Trump doesn’t do anything out of generosity or fairness. He always calculates what’s good for him. In his first term he had nothing to gain since he already won. In his second term he needed the bitcoiner money. Now he has nothing to lose so it’s easy to keep a promise.

What’s in it for him?
Julian Assange also needs a pardon. He had to accept that he was guilty of journalism in order to gain his freedom. This means that any journalist anywhere in the world is potentially at risk under the Espionage act if they publish information that the US government deems against their interests.
He had to or he would still be locked somewhere in Guantanamo. This was his only way to still enjoy some time with his family kinda free.
