Not with fediverse bridges, but native nostr now. Let's show him some love,

Just a heads up if you're unaware tried zapping you on a couple different nostr clients and it keeps giving an error
with bitcoin or XMR?
bitcoin
you got a recommended wallet? I have to update it
I use ecash for recieving zaps and self-custody when they get significant enough
Zeus, Minibits, and Cashu.me offer them
Or you could use Zeus self-custodial zaplocker lightning address, but the trade-off is you have to come online within a day or the zap gets refunded back to the sender. If you check your wallet every day it might make sense.
ehhh i am boycotting cashu mints as it's basically the new federal reserve. zeus zaplocker seems interesting, maybe it could be run on a VPS 24/7? as a client I mean, without needing the full btc node
I get it. Feels like a copout/bandaid solution.
I was also thinking of switching to a bolt12 address, but they're still not widely supported yet afaik
Sounds to me like a VPS could work 🤔
Also found they support NWC:
"Nostr Wallet Connect lightning addresses allow remote node users to receive payments directly to their nodes, using the Nostr Wallet Connect protocol...In contrast to the Zaplocker and Cashu lightning addresses, the NWC lightning address does not require you to redeem payments within the ZEUS mobile wallet. Funds are settled directly on your node at time of payment."

What are your thoughts on pirate chain?
Don't really know enough to have a strong opinion on it. All I really know is they use shielded Zcash tech by default which is cool.
The criticisms I've read are directed towards it's "accelerated emission schedule" for 90% of it's mined supply, notary nodes, and trusted setup. Don't know if the latter is still true or not.
trusted setup is true, but they moved from trusting 6 people like zcash to above 80. however my source on this is a blog post, and not the whitepaper, which I couldn't find it in
I'm not saying it's amazing, but the confirm time is under 1 minute with no lock. so for spending cash it does hold a strong value proposition
I wouldn't be opposed to using it, I'm open to anything, but Monero is already relatively limited in places you can spend it as it is. One of the problems I have with Zcash. Technically better privacy with shielded right now, but it doesn't really help if I can't use it for anything.
Not sure if you've been keeping up with the selfish mining mitigation proposals, but if Monero starts using work shares or a finality layer the 10 block lock would go away if I understand correctly.
yeah bro i have heard up on both these. the work shares I thought was a good idea, I kinda had a similar idea for doing it so P2Pool is the same as a regular pool. but it doesn't help above 51%. it sounds like an easy small win, so why not
note the work shares podcast guy got me thinking of more debate points, as earlier we discussed nym. nym vpn is proof of stake, and rewards the nodes based on the stake amount and not primarily how much traffic they route. so that's the opposite of my goals, which is to empower smaller providers and be more decentralized. And the work-shares podcast speech really drives home how proof of stake helps the initial early people compound wealth, but that's the opposite of what someone would want for a VPN that's fighting against a large adversary to blend in, where adoption and smaller providers are the key.
then on the other interview of the proof of stake finality layer, the thing is luke parker said on that monerotalk interview that the 10-block lock does NOT need to be there EVEN NOW. which really raises the question of why it's there to begin with
I was already a proof of work over proof of stake guy from arguments brought up by people like eric voskuil, but that podcast articulated it from a few new angles I hadn't considered, so it just further cemented PoW as the way to go in my mind. Work shares just sounds like a strict improvement/easy win like you said.
Those are good criticisms of nym vpn model I agee
Interesting...didn't catch when Luke mentioned not needing 10-block lock even now.
yeah, I previously thought the 10-block lock was needed for privacy. he said it could be removed w/ the finality layer, but that it was primarily to stop the user from overspending their own funds, and security. Which is much more controversial to have it
