GM! β˜€οΈ The massive psychological difference that p2p, v4v, and ⚑️zaps make for a creator/musician here on Nostr cannot be overstated. In just 3 weeks I’ve connected with so many individuals. For the first time on any platform, I feel like my music, skills, and artistic expression are truly valued. And your zaps tangibly incentivize me to keep creating. πŸ’œ On corporate social I always felt discouraged. Nostr is different. Here, I’m excited and inspired! Thank you to all 300 of you who have pressed follow. I’m just getting started! πŸ™ Here’s a viola improvisation that says β€œThank you β€” I feel valued” 😊 #grownostr

Do you have mics for your violins for recordings? What was your interface and setup for the forest recordings?
I have finally figured out that I don't suck and can do things, that people actually like what I'm doing and are interested in paying for things I make. It has made me like making things and sharing them again on the off chance that it brings a little joy to someone's day. Some days it's screaming in to the void though, so don't get discouraged πŸ«‚πŸ’œ
That is really amazing! I'm so glad you're finding your people here. The creative life is so funny... it's funny irl... and it's funny online... we really gotta hustle to make anything happen. But Nostr is the first online experience I've had that feels organic and like a real way to connect with individuals. I'm expecting there to be ups and downs with it for sure. My first week I had a huge "welcome" and things have definitely slowed down in weeks 2 and 3. But I still feel incentivized to keep going!
Yes! Yes! Yes! πŸ˜‚ It's all about timing since there's no algorithm to boost you. Don't be scared to boost your older notes if it was a banger. Find what hashtags fit what you're posting and use them. The biggest help is engaging with people, which you seem to be doing.
Yes, different clients call it different things lol. Definitely social!! See what other musicians are using, the grownostr, plebchain, and I can't remember the other popular ones right now, don't do much good because they get spammed all the time. I know I've seen musicstr and music being used.
I am truly happy for you that you are getting joy and encouragement. At the same time I worry about v4v and sugar coating the problems with it does not help the concept that we all want to succeed. V4v simply is not economically viable at all. If this weren’t the case you wouldn’t see such abysmal numbers at Wavlake and Fountain. There’s almost no money in v4v. I think there has to be some much more radical strategy shifts to change that. Maybe it’s the agorist approach of taking advantage of the black markets developing around free speech and privacy in Europe. I’m thinking a high quality subversive sub stack type anon or musician that is black balled in their country but finds refuge (and brings an audience!) to the v4v stack. Spitballing. Somebody hit me with some ideas grounded in reality.
Thanks for your comment and ideas! I agree with you that at least right now the v4v model isn’t a way for me to pay my bills. But it is so far the best way on social media that I have found to actually earn SOME money through content creation. I’m a non-mainstream musician doing weird and beautiful stuff my own way, so I most likely won’t scale like a mainstream artist can. With Nostr I see real potential to find β€œ1000 true fans” who would be willing to pay for a record or merch down the line, or crowdfund a record, or support me in a patreon style. I’m also connected into a completely new network outside of my irl music network… I see a ton of potential in that for future performance or other opportunities. Musicians have to do social media no matter what these days… for marketing… to attract fans… and we mostly don’t get paid at all for it. It is super demoralizing because it takes a ton of time and it’s hard to see the β€œROI” on that time spent. The micropayments in zaps totally takes that feeling away. I’m doing the social media thing, taking time to build a fan base, and actually getting paid for that effort along the way! I’m also earning bitcoin, which I believe in the future will have much greater purchasing power. So even though it’s small now and doesn’t pay my immediate bills … I’m still feeling good about it because it’s gonna pay off down the line! I mostly feel like I’ve stumbled into something on Nostr that has a ton of potential upside in many different ways and I’m excited for it!
