I love your heart Kratter. I really do. I think on a technical level you are way off base, but I’d rather know people failing in the heart positive direction than the alternative. At the end of the day, BIP110 is little more than a thinly veiled power grab running off of the beautiful and ferocious hearts of good people who hate injustice…BIP110 harnesses that righteous energy into a technically meaningless software deployment that serves the interests of a surprisingly small number of people (and most certainly not the average pleb). When BIP110 goes nowhere, please don’t abandon bitcoin. The only way to stop spam is to price it out and right now blockspace isn’t expensive enough to do that…BIP110 doesn’t make SPAM/CSAM meaningfully more expensive. CSAM is irrelevant and if CSAMming bitcoin is all it would take to shut it down, it would have happened by now or bitcoin is already doomed. If you want spam to go away, make block space expensive. The amount of data you need to store is the same.

Exactly. It's like just the woke defending big pharma jabs and forced masking. I'd argue that more heart and less brains is not something to be envied at any level. For this highly technicsl code and game theory there is no place for emotion. For me the 55% "consensus" threshold, absolutely divisive vilificarion of dedicated cypherpunks and flippantly and impatiently rushing into a fork is an attack. Some are innocently getting swept up in it because they are nervous new holders and think they are smarter than they really are, and some are very likely bad actors that want to weaken bitcoin - state actors, "competing" Shitcoiners and butthurt /r/buttcoiners. They can't argue the merits so they focus on slandering long dedicated developers. And none seem to want to confirm they will be selling all of their bitcoin to buy their future shitcoin to show their conviction. You're trying to make a point relative to a specific highly technical conversation involving a breakthrough distributed consensus protocol with very complex design, that is massively disruptive (thereby having many enemies) and has a very complex attack surface by conjuring some sort of metaphor to everyday "rules"? You're going to have to do better to consider yourself an your opinions to be informed and valuable.

Fair, my point is that bip110 is not technically meaningless obviously. You can disagree with the activation method but technically it’s not bad.

The fact these things need to be pointed out is highly worrisome. But just like "Not your keys not your coins" and so on, the fact things seem obvious once you see it, that doesn't mean it is that clear or obvious to others. That is why education will be an important thing, probably for ever..

It's a lot easier to tear others down than build oneself up.
