After months of work, I've discovered a way to build Chaumian Ecash mints on Lightning that don't hold the users' funds.
It's not clear to me yet whether this can actually be made useful or it's only theoretically possible but the sheer possibility makes me incredibly excited.

does that remove the rugging risk completely? if so, it's a major breakthrough.
You’re the man
Interesting.
don't know what this means but it sounds awesome! hope it will be realized to something real!
Oh I should mention that there were around 69 failed attempts before I found a solution that might work.
Gotta enjoy the process or lose your mind on the way.

I just lost my sats from minibits so untill this improves im sticking to what works and tgats the strike app
Define "on lightning" plz
That should not have happened. Have you asked @Minibits about it?
That sounds pretty magical
We are working through the recovery indexes to reach the unspent nuts.
Everything got fixed i now love minibits even more
Ecash disrespectors are in shambles right now

This could be huge if it works.

What is the risk of double spend? I am not technical enough to understand all of this, but it seems the further removed from on chain, the greater the risk of double spend. Maybe I'm just dumb and there's no risk of this?
True if big
Multisig with Coinbase? That's it, isn't it? Multisig with Coinbase.
Could be worth watching!

Are you saying on-custodial Ecash?
Non-custodial*
Calle is it just lightning
is it complex?
Is it based on the idea that you can provably encrypt the token to a pubkey, and atomically providing the corresponding decrypting privkey as a scalar to a PTLC?
I dont think it is about double spends. It's about someone holding your actual Bitcoin and being able to do whatever they want with it.
critical point since mint custody is based on trust - also liability
but mint where fund originated from still need to be online as is now?
