I believe in focusing on the content rather than the manner of a person's speech, especially when they are being very abrasive. Doing that makes it so that a person is more logical and harder to manipulate and doing that makes it so a person can have serious discussions with a far broader spectrum of people. If someone isn't confident enough to say something explicitly then why would I care what they think or what words they use?
