I’m not a lawyer. I wonder if Apple considering these Zaps as payments (money) is in conflict with the fact that the US does not recognize Bitcoin as money.
Is there not a way to make zap workflows outside of the apps as a user-defined workflow? Just like nsecBunker is an inbound workflow for a client, we could have outbound workflows. It could be called anything. A user could kick a workflow, outside of the app, by clicking a button on a note, if he wants that workflow to zap the author then fine, but it could be something else such as tag it in a community (nostr.kiwi). After all, nostr’s strength is interoperability ☺️. No?
Did they provide an explanation for the reason? Is it because they can’t tax it or due to other concerns?
Maybe short term, but you can't fight a walled-garden system. They won't adjust their rules for us, so we shouldn't be limiting freedom tech capabilities to please a giant closed-source ecosystem
They'll change their mind within a year. Otherwise, forgoing Bitcoin adoption and choosing to rely on legacy system monies will be their undoing. Adopt or die scenario.
Yeah, I'm certainly not defending them. They are exploiting their monopolist chokepoint to exclude any payment platform other than the one they can control and take 30% I was hoping the new DMA law in Europe would force them to allow alternate in-app payment, but it seems they still might insist on getting a cut, and probably wanting it in standard currencies, not in any blockchain currency

3.2.1 Acceptable (vii) Apps may enable individual users to give a monetary gift to another individual without using in-app purchase, provided that (a) the gift is a completely optional choice by the giver, and (b) 100% of the funds go to the receiver of the gift. However, a gift that is connected to or associated at any point in time with receiving digital content or services must use in-app purchase.
Sadly, it's the danger of building a business on top of the business of someone else... they own you. Still, I hope Apple will finish to understand the potential of Bitcoin for them too.
This is so cool! Thanks for sharing, man 🫂 Gonna make a PWA of this for the future

Is that because apple doesn't have a wallet to take their 30%? 🤔😁
