Is this only for the month of January? I like what Bukele has done for El Salvador but I do not think government paying for people stuff never ends good. The fact that he will leave 5% of the people out of this program gave me the chills. Sorry, I suffered socialism/communism for way too many years, and many of my family members and friends still do.
Yay! Governments giving away free shit has never caused problems in the past. Is Bukele still good and we are fans or did he lose favor after the IMF loan and we see through this one? So hard to keep track of which politicians we are supposed to simp for and who has fallen from grace. My predictions about the world around me got far more accurate when I just set for politician = bad and stopped tracking exceptions. Easier to remember too.

I agree on one hand because taking taxes and offering free things is redistribution of wealth. But this is better than the alternative of printing money and giving it to other countries (AKA the US). If the government behaves as a company, and uses BTC appreciation to fund the assistance of its citizens, is that a bad framework? Or if they cut energy costs, wouldn’t that result in somewhat of an economic boom?

Unfortunately humans do not thrive when things are given to them. We usually appreciate things that don’t come easy to us. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand is a must read for those who have not suffer socialism first hand.
In Oz, the Qld govt paid a $1k cost of living credit to every electricity account. I've essentially had free electricity for the last 7 months. Yes I've been consuming more electricity. Yes they turned off people's air conditioners remotely during a heat wave to balance the grid.

It seems like a simple goodwill gesture where his incentive is to display the prosperity he’s delivered, but your skepticism is appreciated
