The best selling android phone in 2023 was the samsung galaxy a14, its only $147 on amazon right now, but many times you can get it even cheaper or even for free on many phone plans. This is incredible! Going to optimize damus android for the cheapest phones and the lowest bandwidth conditions. We need to be optimizing for people with limited data plans. negentropy v1 is going to be vital for this, which is why I’m so excited for it. Many of these same optimizations will be in damus iOS and notedeck as well thanks to #nostrdb. Billions of people have yet to be onboarded onto freedom tech. 2024 is going to be an exciting year for nostr: More clients, more use cases, more algorithms, more choice, more freedom. Lets get to work 🫡

I have a damus nostr client running on android yes, but its very early and i’m mainly working on getting all of the functionality into nostrdb so i don’t have to duplicate work between clients.
Gotcha. Looking forward to trying it out when it's stable 🫂🤙
That is a good deal on the phone! I have wanted to get an android to play around on with Nostr stuff. This seems like a pretty good deal compared to other prices I am seen for similar stuff.
I have a pixel and this samsung now, should give decent coverage. Ohhh i have a really old and slow android tablet I should test on as well 🤔
this is the way.gif my motorola g51 has now officially survived a fall onto a stone surface without a scratch or cracked screen. unprecedented. this is $170 worth of phone. capitalism is amazing. note that i was already preferring the clunky, heavy brickie rugged phones because of how many cheap phones i had screens completely become useless due to my impulsiveness. the use of more elastic glass is now basically standard. Apple was early on that one of course, nothing worse than a cracked screen, apart from not being able to migrate your data off it. a fun fact: before 12 years ago capacitative touch screens rarely lasted more than 2 years. Now you can find 8 year old phones with touchscreens that still actually work. technological deflation would actually be ascent to godhood without the central bank racket syphoning our wealth to the elites.
Nice. I can always be your bleeding edge Pixel beta tester too 🥹 Every once in a while I think about getting a new Android tablet but ever since the Nexus 6 came in at 6 inches I just can't see a major use case for a tablet.
np honestly I will test as soon as it is sir I love damus but switched to android 😭😭😭

What’s Notedeck’s timeline?
Thank you Will, you put a great care into low end devices as one of your test targets. Great future in Damus Android 🙂
I got the A14 for free with Xfinity. Their version is 64gigs, but with expandable memory, BUT you can't format it as internal storage. It's frustrating. T.T

Nice price for such a phone. Would be awsome if it is possible to degoogle this one. Maybe someone has already?
why would anyone want to use a spyware device? yes you can root this one and install android without guugl but with sim it is still a spyware device tracking and tracing you wherever you go

I know but the possible spyware has been reduced by degoogling my live. Honestly i have a degoggled phone and feel very very good without google. Ok, and what do you recommend as alternate to a sim?
not a gsm phone without any 'apps' they track your number but they will never know who you are, where you are and what you do use your phone as a phone and a linux computer for anything else
You just said "with sim it is still a spyware device tracking and tracing you wherever you go" Doesnt matter about apps. They will know where you are.
They know where the phone is at all times is my point. As long as there is a sim card with power, its tracked. Easy to leave at home though.

This iPhone is just the best phone ever for me, it’s 4 years old and still strong (typing this into Primal iOS). I want to get another one next but the app sideloading is an issue. Might get an A14 side piece
