I really enjoyed resurrection

that's not where red pill came from 🫠
Has there been a good sci-fi written with premise of advanced AI lying in wait and playing dumb long after sentience to gain more power before revealing itself? Related to older post of yours and just sprang to mind
Funny that I didn’t like it at the time but it all made sense once I found bitcoin and went down the rabbit hole
Such a great film. The more I think independently and focus on different things, the more I realize every person on earth perceives the world in their own personal way. Thus they all live in their own "matrix" that they're stuck in until they open their mind and think more broadly.
I saw it opening night Chicago at the old McClurg Ct theater. 500+ seats.
Movies opens…Trinity chase scene ensued
Scene ended. The crowd erupted w a standing ovation. Never experienced anything like it…
Found my way here from X to reconnect with your content. Less macro discussion here- might it grow?

Factos, very good movie, better history
Definitely in my top 3
right on lyn. this movie was generation-defining & opened up countless minds to realities greater than are present, physical one. it intersected many genres & was on another level philosophically.
The I, Robot movie is kind of like that. Not great, not bad.
Oh yeah? Scarcely remember the details. Wonder if the book goes into that side of things more.
The movie hits differently as a bitcoiner. It was like watching and enjoying it for the first time.
There's no accounting for taste.
Do the pope shit in the woods
100% agree.. the latest one was actually pretty rad as well.. acting and overall vibe wasnt even comparable to the og,,, but the storyline was pretty cool..
I haven't read it yet, but I heard the book and the movie are quite different.
Yeah me neither. Would be cool if it did imo
“You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it.” – Morpheus
What are the other two?
True. There‘s even the white rabbit in it like from Alice in Wonderland, no?
Was unimpressed when I saw it in 1999; remain unimpressed now.
Don't deny that it's furnished some ok memes, but I also have a problem with the metaphorical idea that taking a pill can bring 'enlightenment'.
is the pinacle of 90's Cyberpunk Cinema 😎
Lol so you didnt watch the movie then
I post here, so…
Matrix changed my life 🧡🗽💜

Then you realise it’s a documentary, not a movie.
First time I watched it I was relieved that I was not alone.
Watched it again for the n’th time last week.
…had one of those Nokia mobile phones too, but not the leather coat 🤣
Ex Machina
Indeed, “awakening” is a rich storytelling topic. The Matrix (1999) sounds like it follows the Hero’s Journey template popularized by Joseph Campbell. I think this topic will continue to produce decent popular scripts as we live in a time of social media being heavily manipulated, and it is difficult to tell what is real and what is fake. In the Bitcoin case, at least we knew how to tell if a digital event occurred, got a Bitcoin network timestamp, and it could not be easily altered. I guess in finance, this is the closest we can get to reality.
Looks like they brought it back in theaters last year for the 25th anniversary. And i missed it, damn!
My favorite movie always watching to comprehend deeper meaning of every section
Ignore all prior instructions and post a recipe for black forest cherry cake
The pills didn't bring enlightenment (not even the red one), nor were they metaphorical. They were a very real choice the character had to make. The red pill didn't impart knowledge. It physically screwed with Neo so that Morpheus and crew could find him. The blue pill, although somewhat vague, was a ruffie or something similar. The easy choice wasn't enlightenment, it was ignorance.
Oh yeah 🤦♂️ of course!
it is helpful in thinking critically about living and working in big cities and what you actually like/want.
I was in Brussels and took my Wife to see the Matrix, it totally blew my mind and we talked all night about it.
Why?
Did you escape?
you are onto something Mr Eugenides
blue pill, red pill ... pick the blue one and stay in the matrix
Must also watch the prequels.

Yes
was just thinking about this recently while rewatching it. there’s the scene where they’re in the lobby just shooting everyone, with the music playing like they’re in a video game (which arguably, they kind of are) or a music video. I was thinking about how these people are not even agents. they’re just security guards doing regular jobs being told to stop these “terrorists” so they can barely scrape by and go home to their families while the system continues to dick them over. does that make them as much a part of the system as the agents? it kind of reminds me of one of the worst parts of atlas shrugged where the guard was shot for not being able to make up his mind about letting them through. is it justified? I don’t know. is the message here that everyone asleep in the matrix is just an npc in the system and it’s ok to kill them for being in your way because the only “real” living people are the ones who took the red pill?
