Let me say it clearly:
The only way to fix reply spam is for people to use inbox relays that filter spam.
Clients then should read replies by default only from people's advertised relays.
Finally, if you see reply spam in someone else's thread it should be clear whose fault that is, so that person will be ashamed and fix it.

There's no spam
Use paid relays only. Or fix clients to add a Facebook type friend request system
100%
Ask China for your money back.
This is the right direction. Spam is a relay selection problem, not a protocol problem.
Marked safe from reply spam.
Running the gold standard. ;)

HAVEN?!?
Regardless of whether anyone will use it it has to be tried anyway. It's our duty.
Instead of attaching cashu whatever I think it's better to just allow people to buy "credits" first, then use those slowly when publishing.
There are many interesting variants of this idea that I have been planning to work on but couldn't get to them yet. Would be nice if someone else tried.
are you trans like @Lyn Alden ? #asknostr
Shame the users 😂
You’ve got to be kidding me. 🤦♂️

There are plenty of other solutions, such as designing the protocol correctly in the first place to penalize spam (notably by making it computationally highly expensive to emit messages faster than an actual human can).
Years ago suggested the same thing but no one cared lol since is optional, only use them on your side and say farewell to public relays even thou some notes reach public if you don't want too, which I find it annoying. Another problem from it is if someone replies you from public, you will not able to see it, leaving into no response to that person.
Should I put these 2 also in as DM Inbox relays?
No.
"Good options are:
inbox.nostr.wine (paid)
- auth.nostr1.com (free)
- you.nostr1.com (personal relays - paid)"
Thanks, that's what Amethyst suggests as well.
Someone should post screenshots of which relays to put where as a free user who wants to be reachable by other free users while avoiding at least some of the spam. Especially the Gaza spammer.
The Gaza spammer is a bot farm. They are new npubs. Mute one and another pops up. You can use Amethyst to mute the name, or if it changes for you, the image name.
Does this config make sense for a nobody like me?

I've thought the same thing. Before you got here, @Ava had a different profile pic and you could tell by his hands that he wasn't female. I've asked the question before and got muted.
Oh, not for inbox either? I thought for that only those using it to contact me would need to be.
so visible on his face
Stop lying. The way to filter spam is with a human-tagging web of trust, as I've said a million times. You just want broken centralized shit instead, because you're a glowie.

Ugh…I have been shamed and have work to do - i guess the first step is admitting I have a problem….now to figure out how to solve the problem :)
