Will my cannabis be seedy because I let a male start dropping pollen in the cannabis garden? image I let a male cannabis plant reach maturity in the rabbit colony cannabis garden. It was the last pineapple pomegranate seed I had so I wanted to let it produce pollen to save for breeding. I harvested the pollen and pulled the plant to feed to the rabbits. The female plants have just barely started to produce flowers so I don't think I'll end up with too many seeds (and if I do I kinda want them anyway). The rabbits sure do love to eat cannabis. For those who have experience preserving pollen please point me in the direction of some good techniques. #permaculture #permies #homesteading #grownostr #marijuana #meshtadel #selfsovereignty #cannabis #rabbit #rabbitcolony #garden #gardening #weedstr #weed View quoted note →

Thanks for following along! I want to spread the good word of Bitcoin and permaculture across the land so we can strive for evermore abundance.

If the pollen sacks were open at all, you'll get seeds. Hopefully it's a small enough amount that your girls still vigorously produce more flower. If they get pollinated enough, they will slow down, or even halt. I don't know anything about preserving cannabis pollen, in particular, as I haven't performed any breeding. However, for many/most plants, pollen does not preserve well.
I let one make open up and drop pollen for a week a couple seasons ago. Ended up with lots of seeds in the plants closest to it but not too bad with the others. Definitely still got lots of flower. I hope this time isnt as bad. I really wanted to have the pollen from this plant so I took the gamble. The trick will be preserving it for a few more weeks until I'm ready to pollinate a few branches.
Cannabis is starting to flower image The rabbits have left me with 9 plants in the cannabis garden rabbits colony. image Several are around 8ft tall. Not the largest plants I've grown but much better than last year. In the past I focused a lot on the cannabis garden but now I'm working on growing the most for the least time and expense possible. image The pink pistols are starting to show on a few of the plants now. These will be the ones I attempt to pollinate. If you're interested in how I apply permaculture in the rabbit colony cannabis garden I will be showcasing it on the field study portion of the Applied Permaculture class I will be teaching here at the homestead on September 17th. #permaculture #permies #homesteading #grownostr #meshtadel #selfsovereignty #cannabis #weedstr #rabbitcolony View quoted note →
I’m really interested in how you built the physical structure of your rabbit colony. How much of it do they dig themselves? How much area do you fence in for something like that? Do they seem more well adjusted in that environment than in hutches? Just curious about everything!

Some pollen will keep for a short time in the refrigerator. 🤔
That’s awesome. To preserve pollen you want to keep it dry and cool. There are a few techniques but I’ve never done them myself. It will be nice to have seeds if some of the pollen took to the females. Great for a homestead to have a few seeds
All the plants in the cannabis garden are successfully pollinated! image I had one seed left from the original pineapple pomegranate genetics that turned out to be a male so I let it produce pollen in the cannabis garden. image I tried saving some of the pollen but it looks like I won't need it as well developed seeds are ripening on all the plants. image I'm trying to select for pink color, vigorous large growth, and a super lemon haze high. Plus, a friend and fellow bitcoiner gave me white widow and gold leaf seeds this year which are now crossed with pineapple pomegranate. I'm going to have lots of options next season! image The lady bugs are staying vigilant keeping the plants pest free and looking healthy too. #permaculture #permies #homesteading #grownostr #meshtadel #cannabis #selfsovereignty #weedstr View quoted note →
I pulled the make and fed it to the rabbits shortly after the pollen dropped. It appears the plants are all pollinated but I'm not sure to what extent. In the past I've met males go for longer and sill ended up with plenty of decent bud. Hopefully that's the case this time too. Definitely seeds in there though...
Cannabis harvest is about to commence! These are the best expressions of the super lemon haze x pineapple pomegranate cross I've been working on. (any ideas for names welcome) This season all 9 remaining plants are back crossed with pollin from the original pineapple pomegranate genetics I started with from Massive Seed Co. out of Oregon. View quoted note → I like to harvest slowly over the month of October to make sure I get some buds early if mold gets bad and get plenty of perfectly ripe bud too if conditions are favorable. Looking forward to some tasty finger hash!! Last season was a bit of a let down with a small harvest and no viable seed but this year is looking to make up for it. Plus, I've got some new genetics in the mix with white widow and gold leaf thanks to connecting and trading seed at my local Bitcoin meetup. #permaculture #permies #homesteading #meshtadel #selfsovereignty #grownostr #weedstr #weedstr #rabbitcolony #marijuana #weed #valuediversity View quoted note →
It’s the only animal I can raise to slaughter in my township now smh. I really have been mulling it over if I should give it a go.
