Bitcoin can provide permissionless payments and Nostr can provide permissionless social apps etc, but they're not a magical solution to Digital ID / CBDCs. The only realistic way to combat Digital ID / CBDCs is mass non-compliance, like we saw with the covid passports. Longer-term, we need mass adoption of alternative technologies that preserve privacy. Zero-knowledge cryptography will be required.
same. already giving up quite a bit when we travel. Fingerprints, face scanning.. but idk.. I'm a good person. Don't really have anything to hide. Wondering when the line will have to be drawn
I think we’ll get some indication of whether or not a line can be successfully drawn after they attempt to implement digital IDs in the UK. If people push back and stop it, it’ll send a signal to the rest of the world that it’s possible. If not, well then the rest of us are going to have to send that signal.
Good people don't need government tracking their every movement. The self-governed don't require a governing authority to rule over them. Another issue is, you may believe you are good but the people in charge may disagree with that assessment.

At its heart, it is simple, you are not a number. Nostr embodies this, no central authority, just you and your connections. The realistic take? The road to free movement is long, but every encrypted message, every unsigned transaction, is a step away from their control.
