This is not a blanket statement for everyone who ever existed. The world is full of the consequences of sin which includes the fact that the very earth is cursed to an extent. Even though the laws of nature such as earthquakes and hurricanes occur, God can still use these situations to bring about good for people.

Good response sir, well said. I think that God was speaking directly to Jeremiah and the Israelites at that time, and that extrapolating it out from that point in time is a mistake.

That’s a good point. From the context that is what is going on. I guess though when you lift that verse out of context it turns into a “feel good” verse or motto. People like it because it sounds nice and makes you hope that it will all work out in the end.
