Biden announced he is not running for president on Twitter, a centralized company, via an account for which it is understood he doesn’t control directly. When thinking about the future, this feels like such archaic technology in the present. This is a world where the SEC account was compromised not that long ago and posted market-moving false information. If a president has nuclear codes, he arguably should also have a signing key for any important communications.

I completely agree with you Lyn but it might be a couple more Presidential election cycles before that's in place. Great note you posted yesterday on Nostr! #BTC #Zap⚡ #Nostr #JulianAssangeIsFree 🔥 #God #Trump #Prayer #USA 🇺🇲
Apt comparison, but most officials need training in this tech before touching it (which of course, they won’t do). A good chunk of my below 35 y/o peers don’t even know what a “signing key” is

very true.. ..proprietary platforms require too much trust that can not be fully verified.. ..open source is the only way forward

Listen folks, the intern locked me out of my account on X, so I have no clue what's currently going on there. They are saying Nostr is the future of this greatwhole world. Listen, as we stand united I will beat Trump and win the election this year.

In a similar vein, the idea that people are pasting nsec’s, unfettered access to their digital identity, into multiple clients is going to look archaic. If it’s not-your-keys not-your-coins, the same holds true for your identity. Everyone needs FROSTR

This seems like the most plausible scenario to me. Since when does a nominated presidential candidate dropout of the race via a Xitter statement not on offical letterhead and with his old signature, with no video or press conference? Biden didn’t know he was getting rolled and will be forced to take the deal (money & pardons) because the news cycle has already solidified before his demented old arse could act to halt it.

Lol, you were supposed to respond to the main account 😅 (the other one is just a proxy to post w/o giving up my nsec)

More FROST x NOSTR Magic 🪄 Here I'm able to use virtually any client trustlessly without giving them my Nsec or waiting for them to implement a Frost Bunker. Allow me to introduce you to my friend, Mr. Broker 🗝️🕵🏻‍♂️

Agreed - it seems like “forcing blockchain into everything” at first, but you quickly realize the very real use case with how many impersonators there are on social media now adays. With how often official updates are announced on social media in today, it’s not hard to see how it could be a national security concern.
This is a very good point. Plot twist: Biden didn’t drop out but was hacked.

Well, think about it: most senators, congress men, and politicians are well into their sixties at minimum, many at seventies and eighties. I think there has not been such a generational difference between general population and politicians ever. A sign of decrepitude and dementia, which is very appropriate to describe the state of the entire nation.
It's just me or 99% of the people is sleeping on this? or perhaps there's a 10% that have no idea that Nostr exists and would cheerfully join in. The future is bright ⚡️🫡

wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t even tweet himself. Too risky for his team in his condition.
Imagining a future where you use the same private key for both nostr and atproto decentralized ecosystems (I already do!)

Please don't do this, I thought we were above tribalism. We all want the same thing here! A decentralized future for all social media, and the entire internet. We can work towards this together.
Would be cool if he comes back today saying he got hacked and is still standing. Troll a whole news cycle.

If he doesn't control the account what makes you think he'd control a signing key?
The same message also went to Threads and Instagram and whatever other ungodly corporate advertising supported surveillance media the office uses though right? Wasn't like a Twitter Exclusive.
More a personal decision than anything. My current npub went all kinds of sketchy places early on and once there is a more universal, generic way to avoid using the need directly I will probably rotate
Lol I like the idea of that—make the training a prerequisite for accessing nuclear keys: “No nukes for you until you finish your Nostr key training!”
I agree with this take but... just as a password could be compromised a nsec can as well. Don't get me wrong, Nostr is much better but it doesn't fix this fully. View quoted note →
