They didn't need it anymore, once Mexico took over as the largest producer of black market opiates they left and let Taliban take back power first thing the Taliban did after taking back power? Banned the production of opiates. Afghanistan was the world's largest producer for 20 years under USA occupation. It was their main export. Taliban gave the death panelty for heroin producers and went around setting fire to the poppy fields. They created a compensation program for farmers to help to grow other crops instead. And that's literally all it took to cut production back to nothing. If it wasn't for the weapons that Obama gave to the Mexican cartels the Mexican government would have totally crushed them and Mexico wouldn't be the number one black market opiate producers. But Obama, trump, Biden, and Trump again have all aided the cartels, with weapons, with information, logistics. Because the CIA uses those drugs to fund their secret operations.

They were never meant to solve issues.. They were designed to control your speech.. Unless you see that as an issue. But I don’t like shooting myself in the foot.

The real issue society is facing, in the eyes of these tyrants, is that they’ve lost control over the narrative. They think that things will fall in place again once they regain it, but fail to see this basically requires going full DPRK in our highly (and now much more informed about the true nature of government) digitised societies.

I don't think these things even try to be solutions to any real problem. Unless you are an elite and your problem is that the maintenance of the enslavement of your population is getting more and more difficult with that pesky little internet thingy constantly putting wrongthink into your people's heads...
