Out of the loop, why the Cashu hate of recent?
Nothing changed, same tech with the same trade offs as it was a year ago.

Some grey hat disclosures and adversarial thinking. Iron on iron.
Itβs the people behind it

Nothing new happening in bitcoin
I think people are weary of ever more custodial solutions being introduced and cashu is just first in front of the fan blowing the π©

I mean... most of Bitcoin is still super niche. let alone a layer 3 custodial protocol that barely works. π₯Ί I mean... OK neat... but we ate light years away from normies using this. π€·ββοΈ

If I had to guess, it's coming from people who have gone tribal about knots vs core and realized Calle's on the Core side of things.
Personally I'm getting more intrigued by how Fedi is addressing some of the trust trade offs, but for serving as my "mailbox" of sorts for zaps while my lightning node is offline, I can't complain too much about Cashu. It's only marginally better than normal custodial lightning, but at least I can see who zapped me now.
Youβre a pedophile

floppy dick found a dos vector. knotsis and the few haters (paul sports, ben arc) we have were happy to see it. think itβs a giga brain move given how much i defend core.
we fixed it instantly and released a patch. nobody was affected. cashu continues to be popular among builders and users while will and ben keep crying without providing a better solution.
some people just get attention by hating on someone else.

Huh? None of my critism of ecash on bitcoin involves that vulnerability. I've maintained the same critisms for years.
Lol. 2nd time he's done that today.
Crack on badboy. Or perhaps just take a breath and be a little more humble. Cashu isn't going to solve all of bitcoins problems, and that's okay to admit π

Cashu can't solve a single bitcoin problem as it's not bitcoin
Well admitting that would be a start, yes. It does have use cases tho, and some pretty profound, despite Calle being a bit of a cunt. He's young tho, so whatever.
you're behaving like a pathetic child. I never engage with you except when you have your little episodes. leave me alone finally you troll.
Erm, you're the one who went on a personal attack? I just pointed out some longstanding concerns, others also seem to be having, about the impact ecash culture has had on the bitcoin ecosystem, and corrected what you said above.
But yeah whatever. Stuff to build.
you're hallucinating.
you're aware you can mute, right?
if web apps integrated it directly into their "in-app currency (that you can actually withdraw any time)" normies would be using it without realizing.
hypothetically, sure. would be amazing to have airlmiles-like private tokens and such... but just feels a ways away. getting ppl on SATs is hard enuf
if you have a few minutes to spare, take a look at this video of an over-simplified mockup and tell me if it would be 'hard' to get on board for a newb. i think if anything it would be so easy that they wouldn't understand it's real money; they'd see it like video game points:

For a nostr newb, or a normie newb, are two seperate things.
"Upwork, but with Bitcoin". Clever idea.
Obfuscate as much as possible behind the UX... And make it slick. You've done a good job as this.
The layout is simple which is nice. But man. We're all in a tough spot.
All this stuff is complicated and normies only want what's easy. Mass culture is always "lowest common denominator".
The hard part is making it work... E cash mints blow up. Or don't work. Lightning is still unfinished with routing issues. Etc...
The hierarchy is something like...
Compiling FOSS stuff < Developing and coding <
Node running and Mining < Self custody and Nostr < < ETFs < What is Bitcoin < What is Money < Critical Thinking.
Godspeed man.
upwork but for bitcoin: https://catallax.network
lol sorry i misread this notification.
i haven't built a production-ready client for catallax, only a few references and demos of the protocol in the hopes that others will build a specific client for their use case.
