There's a wave of "x isn't that bad" sentiment (until the next inevitable reminder that it's a data prison run by a dictator state stooge).
It's like bitcoin in that regard, you just have to wait for it to unravel, and build a decent alternative.

We are lucky coming from bitcoin, and understanding pitfalls of something that seemingly makes sense, such as a "foundation". I don't think there has ever been an open protocol that became hardened against centralising forces more than bitcoin. It's a unique experience that equips us well for building something like nostr.

I couldn't agree more. Bitfest was a reboot of the sorts of events that first inspired me to work on bitcoin. No corp/political agendas, cliques or vip nonesense, just peers hanging and exchanging ideas.
