Using x to discuss bitcoin is a legitimate vulnerability. Musk and/or US gov can easily tweak the algo, shadowban, pit bitcoiners against each other. It may sound sensationalist, but think about it, it's possibly one of our greatest vulnerabilities.

Looks like X is still a dumpster fire for at least another month. image

Nostr needs to become the better product (I know it’s a protocol but you know what I mean). I would love to live in a world where people choose the morally better network even though it might not be better than the morally corrupt one yet. Unfortunately that’s just not reality. I think nostr will win because better features can be built on it since it’s open and permissionless.

What do you think the perceived value X users feel they get?
Make very cool stuff that they can only get here. The same way people adopt P2P Bitcoin. I can't get quality from the fiat market, I use Bitcoin for quality.
I agree with what you say about X being a vulnerability. I was banned by Musk's team within hours of an ADL demand, and have never returned. I must say, though, that Lopp's calling it a "dumpster fire" makes me think something good must be happening there.
“Pit Bitcoiners against each other.” Yes, has happened before with BTC vs. BCH. Really, albeit ongoing antagonism, both BTC and BCH are on the same side vs. legally protected central bank fiat.
I think this is one of the most underrated vulnerabilities in Bitcoin. Charismatic billionaires, who are given permission to be a billionaire by the government can easily use their ethos and algos to push quantum FUD, fork wars, anti nostr propaganda and a multitude of other b.s. narratives.

Could we lure X users to Nostr by Xostriches posting Nostr screenshots and links as replies on X, rather than the other way around?
I often think that much of this BIP-110 conversation is already being manipulated by means such as this. I think you are very correct to point this out. Bitcoin as a system is very robust and secure. The minds of those who steward it though are easily manipulated via platforms such as x.

Not sensationalist at all. It is THE greatest vulnerability. Network decentralization is pointless if all the participants are jacked into the Matrix (Musk’s or otherwise).
Unfortunately that is the case for every single topic. Thats not an exclusive vulnerabilty of the Bitcoin topic. That said, unfortunately the bulk of the Bitcoin discussion is made there and the dumpster fire drama is not gratuitious. It reflects the high stakes and the importance of the discussion.
