The end of 2025 marks two years since our family switched entirely to a Bitcoin standard. Two years ago we chose to stop earning fiat altogether, began earning Bitcoin only, spending Bitcoin whenever possible, and saving in Bitcoin. We are starting this year with more sats in cold storage than ever before. #thankyousatoshi

Thank you for sharing that. Our family continues to use Bitcoin more and more. It's been a three and a half year journey for us. The simplicity of the Strike App and Bitkey has been a blessing. Technology can be tough to grasp sometimes. As anyone reading this I'm sure understands. :-)
First step was to simply say “no” to any new opportunities to earn fiat and direct 100% our attention to begin earning sats and v4v. We transitioned the farm from a for-profit to a non-profit v4v model and started @npub1swee...ns6h in early 2023. The rest is easy. Earn more in sats than you spend. Spends sats whenever possible instead of converting back to fiat. Participate fully in the #circulareconomy and #optout of fiat as much as possible.

Yes, it’s definitely a process. Keep pushing, anyone can do it with some effort and the tools will only continue to improve 💪

Amazing and Inspiring!! 🧡 Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you @Filou this is very helpful and inspiring. It would be unreal if I could pick your brains a little further on this via DM if you don’t mind. It would be amazing to really start the process this year on my farm too, but I feel I have some fiat baggage that’s contaminating the mind a little making it hard to see the wood between the trees. Getting stuck always at how do I pay my fiat costs which I have a lot in.
Earning sats directly completely changes the game. Instead of exchanging fiat for Bitcoin as a secondary savings tool, we do the opposite: Hold as many sats as we can, convert only the minimal amount necessary to pay our few remaining fiat bills each month, and most importantly — spend sats directly whenever possible. It becomes a game of how many of our basic needs can be fulfilled using Bitcoin directly, and how little we ever have to interact with the legacy fiat systems— rather than how many sats can I stack and save, while still fully participating in the fiat systems which are built to hold you back. Withdraw completely. Use Bitcoin. Exit the system completely, and take back your sovereignty. #optout #bitcoinonly2026 View quoted note →

Yes! 💪 We’re gonna win! 2026 is all about Bitcoin, no distractions!
Curious why strike and not Cash App? I struggle so often use both haha but like hearing others opinions
How do you like the bitkey? I thought I remember reading about synergies between Cash App and Bitcoin. Good to know strike works with it well too
I was gonna say the same thing wondered if you had a write up already on the journey and initial hurdles. This helps
Glad to try and share more thoughts or answer specific questions. It’s a process, and we’re still improving and learning every day.

We love it. We've had it for a year now. We upgraded from our Trezor. If you are on Facebook friend Joel Bomgar. He occasionally puts out an offer to buy one for anyone interested. He bought one for my daughter-n-law and mom. He does a lot for Bitcoin to say the least.

Congratulations. Well done. How do you get paid in Bitcoin if you don't mind me asking?
Inspiration! I hope you don’t mind me asking - how big is your family and how did you discuss or motivate your partner to do so? I find it increasingly difficult to bring these topics up, as we end in the same discussion as always. Glad for you pleb! 💜
Wife has been onboard from the beginning! It was a fairly easy transaction for us being self-employed, not W2 wage earners. We did take a major hit in income at first but price appreciation mostly made up for it, and we have since replaced lost income streams with new ones.
Multiple small income streams. We are ‘self-employed’ not W2 wage earners. Primary income sources at the moment are @npub1swee...ns6h and running a LN routing node. Between these two we can pay the bills and add to cold storage most months.
Crazy! I am totally at another pit stop, have been self employed the majority of my life and now about to start a 9-5 in music pedagogy. Let’s see how that treats me … 💜
Never used Cash app, Have been on Strike and DCAing almost 4 years... Plus, Strike is BTC first and foremost. Cadh addef BTC ad an afterthought. Does Cash even offer BTC backed loans? Maybe...dunno, and haven't heard them talk about a BTC collatetalized Line of Credit product
I am not sure, probably not since I don’t know either. Most of my bigger activity has always been with strike. The convenience of being able to have a checking account associated with it was amazing - I used bill pay a lot. I just really like what block is doing with progressing bitcoin payments for small businesses so try and support them too. Sometimes I use both at the same time
What process do you use? River, Strike or something like that for direct deposit straight into BTC? Then pay things directly or with a card that you pay off monthly? Something like that? I’ve been thinking of doing this to finally move to a BTC standard, but the execution plan is still a bit fuzzy. What I mentioned above is what I’d assume I’d do, so I’m curious what y’all are doing.
There are always inconveniences, times when it would be easier for sure. Bills, mortgage if you have one, etc. but the tools are out there to make it work with some additional effort. It’s a trade off —convenience for sovereignty, everyone has to answer for themselves, which is more valuable or important to you?
