Just wait until Bitcoin’s detractors, fudsters and the legacy media start pushing the narrative that this network is being used to distribute this material.
You thought orange pilling freedom money in the west was difficult before……
You are projecting really hard dude.
Thanks for all your work on this Matthew - I honestly saw a video you did on this months ago, thought yeah that seems worrying, went on with my life as normal.
Highlighting what mechanic has said recently about CSAM has made me buy a start 9 and get off my ass instantly to get knots- I’ll be adding one more knots node next week.
I still can’t believe everyone isn’t bringing this issue to light and it really shows who understand bitcoin and who doesn’t/ doesn’t care/ takes short term payments over the first global free market ever
Appreciate you 👊
Also I really hope these core devs use their brains in time to stop this insanity!
Im going to my immediate relative who works high up at a three letter agency in DC.
They will be getting ready.
Hardcore v30 degens can consult with Ross Ulbricht on consequences to certainly online activity.
This is how the government outlaws Bitcoin. Watch and see.
I’ve been thinking about this attack vector for years. Sad.
Unable to send you zaps
I wonder if this is just a negotiation tactic. In the previous video you referenced an X post that listed two reasons why the devs would do this - because they’re evil or because they want to advance some other business venture. In the post, the former was immediately ruled out leaving just the second option…which, is how all this started to begin with.
In that light, suppose all they needed/wanted was to increase the limit to say 200 bytes (honestly, this has gone on for so long I can’t even remember what the original requirement was). Knowing that a portion of the community would resist even that change, why not go all out and say you’re actually planning to increase it to some astronomical size, let the community drive themselves insane arguing over it, and then, just before shipping the update, make an about face, acknowledge the error in your ways, bend the knee, and set the limit to what you wanted originally?
I reckon.
Are you new here? Matt isn't. He's expressing urgency with clarity at a time where people (presumably like yourself) don't seem to be getting what's going on.
What will we see exactly? Slander in the media? A new taint on bitcoin? Okay. This is when you make a stand and run knots.
Yeah exactly this 👆
Thank you Matthew.
Thank you Matthew!
Keep up the good work, Matthew. I find your content insightful.
Hah! Thank you for the backhanded ego stroke. FYI, I care not for knots or a hero story, but while we're here I'm happy to be a hero if it means I'm doing what is right for bitcoin, and I'm happy to support people like Kratter when Trudeaus rear their ugly heads.
Without filters in the dominant implementation and without correcting the Taproot exploit, the blockchain WILL be compromised.
I AM advocating for serious conversations about a fork. Give the VCs their "Etherium 3.0" on the historical blockchain and fork a new chain that fixes the exploits.
Let's see which chain has value
idiot
Thanks for your content!
Another thought…
We all know Saylor and like are huge advocates of ossification. Maybe they co-opted Core and devised this scheme as a publicity stunt to support their ossification case.
