Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerburg, and Bill Gates VC is behind #SimpleX? 😅 are we sure about the direction this is headed?

Thanks that's very generous. Is it wise to join just anyone's server or should one use discretion? What are the risks? I have a knowledge gap here! Thank you!

I’m surprised this is coming out now I would’ve thought they would say when making the product
bad PR for the due to complete lack of alignment in goals on the user and the funding side
I don't know enough to say for sure, but as far as I can tell servers can't see your messages or metadata even if they tried, that said I only use servers from other Nostriches, @jascha runs one too which I use
n July 2022 SimpleX Chat raised a pre-seed funding from the VC fund Village Global - its co-founder Ben Casnocha was very excited about our vision of privacy-first fully decentralized messaging and community platform, both for the individual users and for the companies, independent of any crypto-currencies, that might grow to replace large centralized platforms, such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal. Village Global is here:
i’m big on bettering my grammar and increasing my vocabulary, as it helps me describe my thoughts in more detail 💜 so i’m kinda tough on myself with that 😅🫂
i overwhelm myself quite a lot with that, so the “good enough” part is something i’m still constantly learning to acknowledge 💜
The Arcade Labs dev did tell me he doesnt like SimpleX chat implementation so is building his own end-2-end encrypted group chat app. Not sure what he meant by that.
Haha.. Oh what a winner.. But I was sure it was.. So it's not my English others do make a mess as well.. 😂😂😉💕

I was trying to be a bit tongue in cheek 😉 However, if he learns from his mistakes then that's great. In regards to simpleX I'll wait, like you! For private convos I tend to use xmpp.
Trail of bits completed a full code audit last year. Malicious or just poor code can still get added in after that but one would hope that security focussed maintainers would have their eye on this sort of thing.

I've learned they are a 'lending partner' aka no operational control
It's impossible to guarantee security. It's possible that the audits were shoddy, that the devs added malicious code intentionally or unintentionally post audit or that there was just some new exploit. Ultimately the money invested from the glowing sources paid for a fairly reputable firm to audit the code but secure comms is always going to be a target.
Of all ppl that could’ve invested, those are some of the most sus possible. Maybe they’re just being good guys but come on lol.
