usually i feel lucky that switzerland is not part of the EU. not so today.
Honestly, I am very surprised it’s not yet available in the UK… I would expect Germany to be the last country on Earth to approve something like this. I am sure it’s simply because our government has not realized yet what Strike actually is.
I would also assume this means that Primal's wallet is available in these new locations too.

The FCA is notoriously strict on Bitcoin. They still ban investors from buying Bitcoin ETFs too. Literally they're worse than the SEC! (I know the ETFs are a controversial subject but I still want my pension to go into BTC and an ETF is the only way it'll happen.)
Quelqu'un a pu créer un compte sur Strike? Je ne passe pas la vérification de la CNI (ancienne version) PS : à trop essayer on prend un ban d'un moment (à définir 😅)

Already downloaded and will test it in few minutes :) how Do you make free onchain transaction at that fees ?
You would get a lightning invoice from the guy that wants EUR cash. The btc seller will receive euros in his strike account (I just tested this). The robosats order is released and the BTC buyer get gets BTC over lightning.
Can anybody tell why should I switch from revolut? My use case is: buy kyc tether > my erc20 wallet > sideshift to liquid tether > swap to lbtc (mainly dca) > boltz to my lightning node > boltz to cold wallet when fees are reasonable. This way they only know that I bought tether, so no gain (taxes).

some EU is not part or the EU either 😂
well, for robosats you need revolut as well (or something else instant). sepa is slow. instant sepa is usually not an option for me. and with the ridiculous transaction limits you can't even buy like a 1m sats (when btc is up) 🤷‍♂️

I know you're working on it. The three countries I'm most looking forward to are Canada, the UK and Japan.
I mean yes you need some sort of bank account that can do SEPA if you're in Europe to trade on any of those platforms. SEPA instant has always been very fast for me (I mostly use it on Hodl Hodl) and I've had no issues buying large amounts, not sure why you get limited to 1m sats.
But what you seem to be looking for is KYC free BTC, P2P trading is your best bet, since then youre just sending $$ to a person and not a particular platform. They dont even know that you bought "tether".
The thing is a new legislation which technically requires the receiver to "verify" where the money came from. Happened to me that the transaction was held until I proofed the funds (which obv resulted in a failed trade, because we all know how fast these things are). Not all banks support instant sepa...
I use all the options. Even @npub1mftv...rkl3 For larger amounts I trust the liquid federation more then any bank. It happened many times to me that some wire payment was held by any side of the transaction. Even for weeks. Or returned (with all the fees involved).
I was asking that question to Jack, what happen if I send a LN ‘EUR invoice’ to a USD strike user and they pay it. I will probably ‘receive it as EUR’, they could pay the ln invoice from both their Bitcoin stack or use the Cash tab in Strike, then it would be deducted from their USD account (using btc/usd exchange rate)
Just in time for me wanting to avoid the EU as much as possible. When Switzerland?
Hmmmm seems pretty far from self custody btc ethos. It makes sense though..this is the only way to operate at this scale I guess. It's a huge business. It connects to bank accounts for fiat onramp transactions I guess.
the idea is i presume to deposit fiat from bank, and pay it out on your self-custodial lightning wallet as bitcoin. but dont do this. buy peer-to-peer anonymously as satoshi intended in the spirit of cryptoanarchy.
I see! Sounds great if true. That means I just have to have enough EUR in my Cash tab to cover the „USD LN invoice“ of whoever wants to receive USD from me.
I started installing and then all the #kyc info popped up and needed to clarify the options. Thanks. There is place for this sort of services for sure but it is not Satoshi's way that is 100% true. For each their own. ONWARDS!✊
okay so up until the point of swapping through sideshift it's trackable. sideshift however knows where it is sending liquid tether, and then if you're swapping it to l-btc, you're probably using sideswap, who also knows the input and output and they know it's "buying bitcoin" event. liquid to lightning to onchain - thats the part where its obvious it's bitcoin and not stablecoin. your problem might be that they could potentially track your swaps through sideshift and sideswap, to learn you are buying bitcoin and not holding tether usd. might be unprobable, but there's a chance. better to abandon kyc altogether.
i dont play this kyc fiat game, but please explain the following: if someone pays my lightning invoice that originated from cash account, did *i BUY bitcoin* ? if i pay someone lightning invoice from my CASH account, did *i sell bitcoin* ? i wont participate and find out what tax man thinks, but im curious on your interpretation, thanks
Unfortunately I’ll pass for now, as the first question is KYC. I understand it’s not your fault, but…
[suggestion] look at vexl.it app, it's p2p marketplace, that uses hash of your mobile number and hashes of numbers from contact list, to find buy/sell offers from people you know/ people from your contacts know. everything is encrypted and private, until you choose to reveal identity in 1:1 chat. satoshi labs, company behind 1st hardware wallet Trezor works on that. #p2pFTW [are these swaps fungible?] well it depends how far does the tax man want to look. sideshift collects ip address, crypto addresses, times etc.. (so use good vpn that you pay for in monero or lightning (mullvad, ivpn, no shit like nordvpn) they respond to law enforcement requests. so if tax man writes them email asking where they sent liquid bitcoin that was swapped from usdt erc20, they will tell on you. if i had to bring some solution, i can say that if someone used exch.cx which is on belize and doesn't collect shit, and you can request deletion of a swap after its done, you could swap USDT on eth, to XMR , which renders any transactions beyond untraceable, and then you could swap this through them again to lightning. or directly usdt eth to lightning. just be cautious and i cant recommend anything to you nor anyone, i can just point out what exists. be safe
well for stablecoins, you also have options to hold them on some eth l2 like Arbitrum or Polygon - cheap and fast txs. there's also option to live inside cosmos ecosystem, cosmos hub, osmosis or other chains inside it. liquidity pools provide cheap swaps.
if any tax man and/or officers from governments are reading these posts, please bear in mind that im not and its not even in my intention to explain how to do illegal things. i very much respect the law and i think taxes are very good and everyone should pay them. every good citizen should tax every money event that they do and pay even more taxes than they are required to so that we can have roads and stuff. i would never encourage anyone to do stuff that go against the law. thanks

Spain is not EU anymore? When did we leave?
Yeah. For normies I think it's a nice thing to start on bitcoin, bc you can receive and send bitcoin and switch to fiat.
Yes have to use the receive by LN invoice on the Cash tab. It seems to add some metadata to tell Strike to convert the btc to EUR when received... If you use the strike LN address you'll just get Bitcoin... Interestingly the EUR LN invoice expires after 1 minute! It makes sense because of exchange rate fluctuations.
Strike makes it possible to live 99% off zaps. Shelter = Air B&B gift cards Food = Woolworth / Uber Eats gift internet = E sim
Why should she? Full KYC. They take over whenever they seem fit. #nokyc
Serious question. Why is Strike allowed to expand and continue, while Samourai gets shut down?

Yo0o this is nice @jack mallers ! Has Strike some plans on becoming a traditional bank which serves IBAN numbers to client? If so, I can ditch my current bank and manage all my funds within one system which would be fully interoperable with fiat and btc systems..

I love Strike. I wish you had gotten the Coinbase contract for their connection to the Lightning Network. Then I wouldn't be waiting three days for a simple send of 1000 sats to my strke wallet. image

Has Brian EVER listened to anything? How long did it take for them to decide to give their customers access to hard fork splits? Oh well, lessons learned.
