That’s both terrifying and kind of impressive 😂 A 300TB archive really puts into perspective just how massive Spotify’s catalog has become—and how determined internet archivists can be 🤓🏴‍☠️

An idea: Create a nsec and npub for every artist and by some kind of verification they eventually get access to their own nsec and zaps which they got via fountain. Liberating the artist.

Lots of relevant discussion happening on this Hacker News thread, yet no mention of what’s happening here from what I’ve read. I haven’t chimed in yet. If any Nostriches want to engage I think it could be insightful. Could be a good time to introduce some folks to @Stacker News in the process.
The funny part is that that's entirely doable. If I only need to scale it for myself and my grandma, then that sounds doable even with lookup/fulltext search DB.
Have you seen anyone indexing the archive? Because if it was indexed, it would be easy to create a "migrate off Spotify" script so you would only have to download 25gbs at a time vs the full archive.

Seems as that’s coming next. Anna’s Archive posted this in their initial statement. image

idea for the "nsec to real artist-service": - this service gives out a OTP to anyone who claims to be the real artist. - the one artist who successfully publishes this OTP on his Spotify Account (i.e. via the profile description) is the winner. Later: real artist with his given nsec changes his npub/nsec so it is truely private and the "nsec to real artist-service" is out of the loop for sure.

If there at least was e-mail address to the artists, could send redeemable ecash by e-mail to them? Small sums for each anyway initially, but when artists see money coming...?
