Google: Does Amethyst offer "financial features"? Me: 😬 Google: Does it? Me: Not really. Google: Can you give us more details? Me: There is a donation button. When the user presses it, the app calls the user's preferred wallet application or service to check the balance, review, confirm, and perform the transaction before coming back to Amethyst. Google: Oh, cool. We are done. image Install Obtainium.

I have a long list and goal of going as much FOSS as possible. First, get a Pixel phone. Then run Graphene OS. Then use Proton VPN, drive and email with forwarding from gmail. Then use Kiwi browser with Orbot VPN. Then Amethyst for Nostr. Then Obtanium for App downloads or Github APKs. What am I missing?

Is this the same as umbrel and start9? I'm not yet educated on what exactly I'll be hosting. Haha. But I want to run a Pi BTC node.
Super easy to get started. Either fully self hosted or rent a vps with Ubuntu server and it shouldn't be many more steps than ``` sudo snap install nextcloud ``` On desktop its a great replacement for Dropbox and office suite with many more addons

Go self-sovereign computing, @Start9 . Why use proton drive when you can host your own data securely with nextcloud 😎

I'd have said it doesn't, you can link payment details to it, it can call other apps that do perform payments, but it doesn't itself handle payments.

Thanks, appologies. Many steps.
No. Just change the admin and WiFi password. Use the EFF word list. Then create a guest network for visitors and home devices. Don’t be the guy with the device default password.

Would it be possible to keep the Lightning functions on some kind of add-on? That could be installed from the app itself or sumthin'
Is the nextcloud data encrypted? I don’t know why I remember thinking it isn’t from research I did a few years ago
Agreed, there's simply nothing to regret. The reality of the modern tech ecosystem is that much of the "conveniences" we're told we need simply aren't convenient. Having a phone that tracks me everywhere I go and listens to everything I say doesn't help me one bit.
I was seated at a park bench with a neighbor a few days ago. We were having a conversation. His phone (google assistant) unintentionally kept interrupting asking him to repeat his prompts. It took me about a minute to close out the Convo and walk away.
i’ve been looking into some of the 5th circuit court cases against big tech, and what is coming out is that the gov has been threatening companies with 230 removal i unless they cooperate with mass censorship. except for google. they’ve been on board from jump. they have been tied to the National Security State from early on.
Yes, this is insane. They put their "assistants" on the table during discussion. How is it even acceptable from etiquette perspective? They don't ask, can I record our conversation? I'm going to put audio recorder on the table next to their assistants. Waiting for their reactions.

I've had doubts about Proton, especially how FOSS it is. You're saying it's no good because they built I access to pull some of my data? This is bad.

Another thing on my list now. Hah!
They (Proton) work for governments: CH, EU. They've been working ca. 8 years to remove Google dependencies from thier source (Protonmail). They've been working ca. 8 years to implement proxy option in Android app. Do you think that they care about your security? They collect tone of data and don't even tell how long they keep it (support). In the meantime they introduce new products to bring you to their garden e.g. calendar, VPN, pass etc. Evaluate it on your own.

Right. True that. At least Google isn't pretending. K. So what is a good alternative for Google products (drive, sheets, Word, email etc...) Proton seemed more ideal.
"Right. True that. At least Google isn't pretending." Exactly! "So what is a good alternative for Google products (drive, sheets, Word, email etc...)" Diversification - always. Don't put all eggs in one basket. Consider selfhosting - it's not a rocket science. https://digdeeper.neocities.org/
It's inevitable. I bet, not long from now, every app finds a way to have zap feature, #nostr or not. #Zaps are forward player in #bitcoin team.
What I get from this is that they don't care as amethyst isn't offering "financial features" theres just a button to open a users 3rd party app of choice to send value, not amethyst itself as its just displaying the transaction and not making it happen itself?
Biased but star9 is the way to go. And they just came out with a new server running intel that’s much more powerful than a Pi for the same price basically

It's good but may require Regex to get it working with every repo you want.

You've given yourself 3 more days
Browsers like Aloha or Brave offer a whole shirtcoin wallet integrated into their software. Recently tried Opera Mini and it has an option of wallet too. You just have to tap the 'Add' button. In worst case scenario, adding a button to allow zaps might be a solution to go around it.
This is a button to initiate a wallet handshake. So realistically speaking there is no financial features.

✅️🤙 this is rad. I'm getting there... lots of switches to make. Thanks for link. I'd zap you if your wallet was linked.
