We are all in agreement then. Quoting is meant more to draw more attention to yourself, instead of having a conversation with the OP. I don’t see why people are getting offended that I’m pointing out this behavior. If you want attention, quote. If you want to have a conversation, reply.

I quote from time to time because OPs choose not to engage with plebs so it feels like talking to a wall of elitism which I find abhorrent. Not saying you do it (at all) but thought you might like another opinion.

Sometimes you want to loop more people into a conversation hence the quote keeping your original message. Perspective.
Quote posts are for engagement to your followers. Not only that. It signals to plebs your paying attention. I agree with your analysis. But see nothing wrong with quote posting.
The 'We ' in the statement 'We are all in agreement then..' Is that the royal 'we' or an assumption? Asking for a friend of a friend who is an abhorrent 'quote poster 'type. 😉
There's nothing stopping you from replying to the quote though. Quotes are a reply that engages the OP with the followers of the one that quotes.
