Tomorrow is National Night Out: a once-a-year event where communities across the U.S. gather on their blocks to connect, celebrate, and look out for each other. I just heard about one from Jack, the first person I ever onboarded to #BitChat. He’s starting his first year at UC Berkeley, and his neighborhood’s hosting a block party. It got me thinking… what if this day became National BitChat Day, too? It’s a day built exactly for neighbor-to-neighbor connection. Front yards, grills, block parties. The ideal moment to talk local comms, off-grid tools, and digital sovereignty - casually, authentically, neighbor-to-neighbor. If you’re attending a neighborhood gathering tomorrow, consider: 💬 Getting your neighbors on BitChat 📡 Helping folks understand that mesh + Bluetooth chat = resilience 🛠️ Offering a simple download (QR code or APK) 🕊️ Reframing it as “a tool for when you really need to reach each other and you'll wish you had when the grid goes down” Or better yet - host a mini gathering yourself. Doesn’t have to be fancy. A few neighbors and a conversation can go a long way. This is where tech adoption actually happens: Not through ads, but through real life, trust, and shared context. BitChat is more than a chat app. It’s a trust tool. A backchannel. A bridge. And this might be the perfect night to build those bridges. #BitChat #Nostr #FreedomTech #NationalNightOut #MeshMessaging Bonus tip: Not sure how to break the ice at the block party? Show someone how to slap with a trout on BitChat. If they don’t laugh, challenge them to a fish-slapping dance-off 👉🏻

Seriously. Also help explain to artists and creators when they first join how to actually use Nostr. There's no algorithms to boost them, they need to understand that it's about community building. Which they will prefer once they understand. View quoted note →
Yea. That's another problem: I can't tell if anyone even saw it so I can tell if the post was disliked. On Twitter I see if 20 people saw it and if no one liked it I assume I should do less of that. I don't want to keep spamming people things they don't want to see 😅

I think with the “legacy” media they are geared toward creating systems of feedback that help creators “monetise” quicker. I think that the mind shift with Nostr is to truly lean into “you doing you.” Any sort of monetisation or signal via zaps is literally gold. Any signal you get then is trending towards pure. You can’t game it. You also can’t conclude that Nostr is an abyss because there were “no impressions.” People MUST be reading your notes but for whatever reason they decided no further action was needed. I am sure you already have figured this out, so, just keep doing you! 🤜

For sending zaps, I believe any wallet can be used. More precisely: I use Phoenix wallet on Android for Lightning. I was able to send zaps in Nostr without going anywhere near the Primal wallet. Clicking the zap button takes me directly to Phoenix For receiving, I ultimately had to use the Phoenix wallet If you have a wallet that exposes an LNURL (xxx@yyy.zzz) then I think you can receive to that.
