im literally baffled by that pop up lol. is there a list of wallets that support NWC somewhere? ๐Ÿ˜
You can generate the NWC secret in alby hub for example, if you go to connections, itโ€™ll produce the string you are supposed to paste in there and then do so and then alby hub will confirm a connection was established. Not sure what youโ€™re using for your lightning wallet.
G-Jaun, Ive been using the same lightning channel through Alby Hub with Zeus wallet and various nostr clients basically flawlessly for over two years, itโ€™s my go to for now for simple zapping. The only time it breaks is usually when either Megalith (the liquidity provider is down) or a client makes an update that breaks it.
My suggestion for an ultra newbie: Get the @YakiHonne app or go to the web client at yakihonne.com, and set up a new wallet. Choose โ€œYakihonneโ€™s NWCโ€ which will instantly create a wallet for you that you can plug into any Nostr client. Copy (back up in a safe place!) the NWC connection string. As long as you have that you can access the wallet. Paste that into to any client you want, and youโ€™ll have the same wallet and Lightning address anywhere. Just remember itโ€™s someone elseโ€™s node, so keep a responsible balance there. image
Yep. Itโ€™s a lot of noise. Rizful is custodial. Cashu is custodial. Spark is trust-minimized. All of this infrastructure works fine as long as the operators donโ€™t collude and rug you, and nuke their reputations in the process. There are always risks in doing anything in bitcoin, including running your own node which comes with channel management expenses and chance of hardware failures. Running a node is awesome, but you can easily lose money on it. In the meantime, users still have to start somewhere.
And not too take this further than we need to because you and I agree on this and so many things but the reality is itโ€™s impossible for everyone in the world to have a utxo, thatโ€™s just the math. Bitcoin banks will exist and layers above the main chain will be essential
I agree, itโ€™s solid and has a lot of great features for power users. The reason I listed Yakihonne first is because itโ€™s the fastest and easiest setup. Doesnโ€™t require an email, only a Nostr profile.
