It really depends on whether I want more people to see my reply. Since the quote appears in my feed and the reply only appears under the original note.
Big influencers who post and don't re-engage are only worth quoting because you know your reply will just flounder unread and unappreciated.
Makes it harder to follow any conversation thread. Quote replies ought to be for when sharing a new thread of discussion based on some other post. Replies ought to be used when continuing a discussion thread in context. Can always simply repost a reply to boost it into the main feed.
But clearly my rant only had the opposite effect, which I should have known it would π€£π€£π€£
To add to that, the quotes can become impossible to find after the fact since it's a one way reference. The OP gets a notification that they've been quoted, but that's it.
It's what you get when you put a bunch of people who enjoy bucking the system in the same social network π
As soon as there's a judgement on what 'should' be done, it'll immediately be done the opposite way.

I wonder if we should change OP to ON for Original Noter π€π€
Exactly. My favorite is when 2 influencers start going back and forth with each other using quote replies instead of just replying to each other in the thread. I assume itβs because they are more interested in showing off their comments to their followers than actually having a genuine discussion with each other. A form of engagement farming.

Yes, please
Exactly, it's an ego problem.
Reply and repost the reply is the logical solution if one cares about the discussion/community.
