I fucking hate the amethyst default banner image, ai ostrich slop with bitcoin hats ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ
Might actually ditch amethyst just for that tbh. Jumble.social pwa might be the way to go

I actually thought they were quite cute ๐ฅน
Jumble is quite good
I can't take it any more
I use amethyst pretty exclusively and I don't know which image you're referring to. ๐
In amethyst are the pics taking forever to load?
Look at your profile. The banner pic at the top of the page.
This is the new amethyst default banner when you haven't changed it.
Bitcoin slop for bitcointwitter
I honestly despair.

I'll share my dystopia wasteland shopping cart banner with you.
But they're such cuties ๐ฅน you can always use your own banner though and problem solved ๐
I know that, but this is the sort of crap that turns people off.
Firstly it's AI slop, secondly it's bitcoin ai slop.
Imagine how many people that alienates lol.
Ah... While I can't really throw stones (my avatar is literally an AI generated dog...), I see what you mean. Honestly preferred the old version.
Might not be seeing it because I haven't updated in a little bit.
I still see the old one.

Yes that's a fair point. I just like cute animal drawings - they can have no hat I wouldn't care ๐ but I get it though, it wasn't like that before ๐ค
That is bad. ๐คข
The update has changed it. This one was bad enough being AI crap. The new one combined AI and bitcoin slop lol. The absolute state of it
Wow thatโs prettyโฆ special.
So like dunce hats?
This seems like a form of elder abuse. How can anyone onboard their grandma to nostr with this shit
Devs shouldn't be making aesthetic decisions lol
Unfortunately jumble as a PWA doesn't have settings that amethyst has like not auto download media when on mobile data. That's the only thing keeping me from deleting amethyst tbh lol. Over reaction sure lolol but I simply can't support the slop:):):)
At least you know the operation is just one dude in a basement somewhereโฆ
It would literally be better as grey with the words 'default' in comic sans
But really, anyone seeing that will think not only this but ah so this is just for bitcoin slop enjoyers, nothing for me here. Delete app.
It's pretty stupid.
Yes I know it's not that serious lol
Nostr is dead. Again. Forever.

I honestly think some devs are doing their best to never let nostr live.
These are decisions you make when you've just been fired and still have access to the backend. Lol
Itโs a fair point thoโฆ considering, whether you agree or not, thereโs a large group of people that are both anti AI and anti btc. Surely the selling point should at least be partly that this is a free and open protocol.
Weโll never get past 50 users at this rate...
Mind you, Iโm only here because I havenโt found a social media any smaller yet.
jumble so good
Going jumble-only lol
It's actually pretty nice as a PWA
Needs mobile data settings on media loading, but that's it
@Cody not sure that's possible but I thought I'd tag you anyway lol
i just did that for a few months.. it was nice, really nice actually
Have fun,
Stay jumble
What made you stop?
amethyst started working again on master branch. i still use jumble tho, just not jumble maxi for now..

Submit a better one in a PR lol
NostrBros ruin everything
Strange. It's not showing up for me.

It's been updated and made worse lol
There's your problem. Never update.
I'll miss you! Oh wait, this is Nostr. ๐
You mean an option like โonly load media when on Wi-Fiโ? I think thatโs a great idea. Iโll try to add it before the end of the weekend.

#Amethyst has DMs and public messages. So, it works well as a native chat app. Those are two kinds where outboxes really shine.
I think the outbox model is a bit much for kind 1, if you already have good proxy relays.
I also think that relays getting smarter has greatly reduced the need to broadcast all over the place, as lots of relays stream in and out from other relays.
If you write a public message or an article to TheForest ๐ฒ, for example, it ends up on TheCitadel ๐ก๏ธ.
And on damus, primal, lol, freelay, band, lumina, wheat, aggr.nostr.land and mom. And lots of other relays stream in from those relays... It's like a mesh.
The relays I mentioned are the ones we explicitly and purposefully stream to, but your events actually end up on hundreds of relays, within a few minutes.
Anyone running #Citrine ๐, Orly ๐ฆ, or some other aggregator, will pull events in, from there. Because most relays are now spidering, streaming, syncing, fetching, you no longer have the **CAN ANYONE SEE ME?** effect.
Yes, we can see you, now. ๐
I am willing to sacrifice all of this to never see that banner AI slop again lol
I actually just jumped back on the Amethyst hype train. ๐
But I legit can't use Amethyst outside of WiFi. Totally kills my mobile plan.
Wut lol :haha:
There's the setting to not load media on mobile data. I assume you know that tho(?)
Jumble PWA is awesome.
Nothing else comes close, especially native lol.
I honestly think devs don't want new users.
Well, they only want new users called hodl21oshi
Why do DMs make outboxes shine?
When you only need inboxes for them.
Having a general outbox makes zero sense to me, for nothing.
Inboxes however, you can't really do without, if you want :mail: Mail.
Haha, or they want new grants and self-congratulatory conference circle-jerks on apps and features that get forgotten 15 minutes after.
The ostrich is terrible marketing btw.
Do literally any testing and you'll see.
Attracts about 0,01 % of people to something new.
I meant, the outbox model.
Aight! #justtobeclear :checkmarkgreen:

Eu concordo que ele รฉ รณtimo... No PC. No celular deixa muito a desejar, principalmente na aba de notificaรงรตes.
I can no longer see non-english posts translated, but I assume everyone is strongly agreeing with me on the awfulness of this. Thank you.

PWA sucks. Forced updates, no decentralisation, reliant on a browser to use, just a patch for those who didn't create an APK.
Jumble is a great client, and indeed the PWA is very good, but it's not ideal. I prefer to use it on the PC rather than on my phone as a nice client, but not a definitive one.
Eu acho a aba de notificaรงรตes perfeita, haha.
What do you think @Cody ? PWA sucks?
Iโd rather not prioritize the posting feature on mobile for now, since Jumbleโs editor isnโt very good yet.
Ah ok, we need to fix the problems we have using Futo keyboard for example.
cc @fiatjaf
There are plenty of choices, and everyone can pick what they like. I also mostly just use Jumble on desktop, haha.
But I donโt really see the points you listed as disadvantages of PWAs:
- Forced updates mean an early client can quickly fix bugs and ship features. You might be worried about โmaliciousโ updates, but does an APK really solve that? How many people actually review Amethystโs source code, and even if they do, how many compile it themselves?
- Jumble is a purely static site and could even be deployed directly on nostr via
. If needed, Iโm sure someone would mirror it, itโs open source after all. Isnโt that actually more decentralized than an APK?
- Depending on the browser means Jumble runs anywhere a browser exists. An APK, in contrast, depends on Android and doesnโt easily run elsewhere.

nsite - Decentralized Static Website Hosting on Nostr
nsite enables decentralized static website hosting using Nostr public keys and Blossom content-addressed storage.
Zapstore signing is something thatโs better in apkโs. PWAs rely on SSL certs that live on CDN or server: easier to hack when the code itself is not signed.
It's easy to wrap browser apps with tauri btw. Iris is on Zapstore, and I might try my luck with play store and ios app store one day. Why not have both options. I've grown a bit weary of cloudflare.
The real security is in keeping your keys safe and not signing events blindly, haha. When I use Jumble, every event (except AUTH) asks for my consent before itโs signed. I know that with this configuration, many apps become almost unusable.

Thatโs a good idea.
Iโve thought about packaging it with Tauri / Electron, but then I canโt resist bundling a local relay inside, haha. And thatโs when I start procrastinating.
Yes, many apps assume that as soon they detect an extension the sign is immediate, and miserably fall with some sort of timeout if the user take some seconds to approve (or didn't approve at all).
Please pack it. People like to install things.
