But they're such cuties ๐Ÿฅน you can always use your own banner though and problem solved ๐Ÿ˜‚
I know that, but this is the sort of crap that turns people off. Firstly it's AI slop, secondly it's bitcoin ai slop. Imagine how many people that alienates lol.
Ah... While I can't really throw stones (my avatar is literally an AI generated dog...), I see what you mean. Honestly preferred the old version. Might not be seeing it because I haven't updated in a little bit.

Yes that's a fair point. I just like cute animal drawings - they can have no hat I wouldn't care ๐Ÿ˜‚ but I get it though, it wasn't like that before ๐Ÿค”
The update has changed it. This one was bad enough being AI crap. The new one combined AI and bitcoin slop lol. The absolute state of it
Unfortunately jumble as a PWA doesn't have settings that amethyst has like not auto download media when on mobile data. That's the only thing keeping me from deleting amethyst tbh lol. Over reaction sure lolol but I simply can't support the slop:):):)
But really, anyone seeing that will think not only this but ah so this is just for bitcoin slop enjoyers, nothing for me here. Delete app. It's pretty stupid. Yes I know it's not that serious lol

I honestly think some devs are doing their best to never let nostr live. These are decisions you make when you've just been fired and still have access to the backend. Lol
Itโ€™s a fair point thoโ€ฆ considering, whether you agree or not, thereโ€™s a large group of people that are both anti AI and anti btc. Surely the selling point should at least be partly that this is a free and open protocol. Weโ€™ll never get past 50 users at this rate... Mind you, Iโ€™m only here because I havenโ€™t found a social media any smaller yet.

I'll miss you! Oh wait, this is Nostr. ๐Ÿ˜‰
You mean an option like โ€œonly load media when on Wi-Fiโ€? I think thatโ€™s a great idea. Iโ€™ll try to add it before the end of the weekend.
#Amethyst has DMs and public messages. So, it works well as a native chat app. Those are two kinds where outboxes really shine. I think the outbox model is a bit much for kind 1, if you already have good proxy relays. I also think that relays getting smarter has greatly reduced the need to broadcast all over the place, as lots of relays stream in and out from other relays. If you write a public message or an article to TheForest ๐ŸŒฒ, for example, it ends up on TheCitadel ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ. And on damus, primal, lol, freelay, band, lumina, wheat, aggr.nostr.land and mom. And lots of other relays stream in from those relays... It's like a mesh.
The relays I mentioned are the ones we explicitly and purposefully stream to, but your events actually end up on hundreds of relays, within a few minutes. Anyone running #Citrine ๐Ÿ‹, Orly ๐Ÿฆ‰, or some other aggregator, will pull events in, from there. Because most relays are now spidering, streaming, syncing, fetching, you no longer have the **CAN ANYONE SEE ME?** effect. Yes, we can see you, now. ๐Ÿ˜‚
I am willing to sacrifice all of this to never see that banner AI slop again lol
There's the setting to not load media on mobile data. I assume you know that tho(?)

Why do DMs make outboxes shine? When you only need inboxes for them. Having a general outbox makes zero sense to me, for nothing. Inboxes however, you can't really do without, if you want :mail: Mail.

Haha, or they want new grants and self-congratulatory conference circle-jerks on apps and features that get forgotten 15 minutes after.

The ostrich is terrible marketing btw. Do literally any testing and you'll see. Attracts about 0,01 % of people to something new.
I can no longer see non-english posts translated, but I assume everyone is strongly agreeing with me on the awfulness of this. Thank you.
PWA sucks. Forced updates, no decentralisation, reliant on a browser to use, just a patch for those who didn't create an APK. Jumble is a great client, and indeed the PWA is very good, but it's not ideal. I prefer to use it on the PC rather than on my phone as a nice client, but not a definitive one.
There are plenty of choices, and everyone can pick what they like. I also mostly just use Jumble on desktop, haha. But I donโ€™t really see the points you listed as disadvantages of PWAs: - Forced updates mean an early client can quickly fix bugs and ship features. You might be worried about โ€œmaliciousโ€ updates, but does an APK really solve that? How many people actually review Amethystโ€™s source code, and even if they do, how many compile it themselves? - Jumble is a purely static site and could even be deployed directly on nostr via . If needed, Iโ€™m sure someone would mirror it, itโ€™s open source after all. Isnโ€™t that actually more decentralized than an APK? - Depending on the browser means Jumble runs anywhere a browser exists. An APK, in contrast, depends on Android and doesnโ€™t easily run elsewhere.
Zapstore signing is something thatโ€™s better in apkโ€™s. PWAs rely on SSL certs that live on CDN or server: easier to hack when the code itself is not signed.
It's easy to wrap browser apps with tauri btw. Iris is on Zapstore, and I might try my luck with play store and ios app store one day. Why not have both options. I've grown a bit weary of cloudflare.
The real security is in keeping your keys safe and not signing events blindly, haha. When I use Jumble, every event (except AUTH) asks for my consent before itโ€™s signed. I know that with this configuration, many apps become almost unusable. image
Iโ€™ve thought about packaging it with Tauri / Electron, but then I canโ€™t resist bundling a local relay inside, haha. And thatโ€™s when I start procrastinating.
Yes, many apps assume that as soon they detect an extension the sign is immediate, and miserably fall with some sort of timeout if the user take some seconds to approve (or didn't approve at all).
