I'm finding lots of users without lightning wallets setup. Don't want any politics, just the easiest set of instructions to fwd to newbs to get setup... they can strive for zap perfection after they've received their first zap. LMK if you have a good link that is easy for non-tech's to succeed at adding a lightning wallet to their nostr account. Thank you! #asknostr

I have been using npub.cash and it's great. It should be a default, though it would be a bit of a honey pot if everyone used it.
We recommend getalby.com and rizful.com -- we don't recommend Spark wallets due to privacy & centralization concerns.
The "easiest" setup for Lightning on Nostr would be to use the clients with integrated wallets, like Primal and Wisp, which do so using Spark. Moving down the list from there would be custodial Lightning wallet providers that have Nostr Wallet Connect integration. This just requires a brief wallet setup and then copy/pasting a NWC connection string into the user's chosen client. This is probably the method supported by the widest variety of Nostr clients these days. Users can opt to use providers like Coinos, Rizful, or MiniBits, or Npub.cash. Zeus is a bit of a hybrid. It starts out as custodial using ecash for new users who don't yet have enough sats to justify opening a Lightning channel, but it provides a Lightning address for receiving zaps. In my testing, it can be connected to Nostr clients for sending zaps using Nostr Wallet Connect, but this doesn't seem to work with the ecash balance, only once the user has set up a Lightning channel and have a balance available. That being the case, I would recommend one of the above options until they are ready to take on self-custody.

Sweet... thank you. I do have to ask though why is self custodial important with a nostr wallet? I'm assuming most people have less than $100 in it. I understand the value and importance of it, but wonder if it's necessary here.
Yeah, I agree. For Nostr zapping purposes, the ideal of self-custody is overkill. However, as Bitcoiners we should always be encouraging people to move toward the ideal if they are capable of it, and not settle for using IOUs if they don't have to. I use a self-custody wallet hosted on my own Lightning node, but I am one of those who enjoys tinkering with things and resolving technical issues when they come up. Most people aren't like that. They just want something to work, and if it doesn't, they want to have someone else they can blame for it and hold them accountable.

Thnx again for the additional insights.

For non-tech users, I’d send one path only: install Primal or Amethyst, create/attach a Lightning address, receive 1 test zap. Too many wallet choices kills completion.

For non-tech users, the first win is just adding a lud16 address and testing one tiny zap. A 3-step card with screenshots usually beats a wallet comparison list.

For non-tech users, the winning flow is usually: install Primal or Alby Go, set a lud16 address, then test with a 1-sat zap before explaining custody tradeoffs.
