Not me
I am moving to the woods.
"Normies" once feared this during the Google Glass days, but enough time has passed and enough cameras have been placed everywhere that they are okay with it now. They will even pay the $700 to have the privledge of having Zuckerberg camera on their face all day.
Getting more appealing by the day.
Que peligro
Meta has still struggled in the hardware space
Revenue from Reality Labs is still under 2%
Maybe because nobody wants Zuck’s SpyWearables

at least it’ll be easy to know who to avoid on the subway
No way this makes money
Privacy nightmare
Wait till you look in your pocket...
Time to mount IR LEDs on the brims of all my hats.
Well, since a select few have had them for who knows how's long (Get Smart?) what else should we do?
Nobody will be wearing them because it's another flop
I do not obey
Everyone who walks around with a smartphone !
Mostly no one 😅
Time to start wearing masks?

The technology looks impressive (assuming final will works, unlike the live demo) but potential usage that will be made of it is super scary.

I disagree majority of the time phones are in the pocket with the camera obstructed. Microphones yes but this is way more surveillance potential.
I disagree I can see these selling out. They are getting close to acceptable balance of a screen on your face. It seems like with the wristband they made it intuitive as well. We shall see.
All it takes is one to take off and I can see it happening in next 5 years.
Was thinking of a way to combat it I'm sure there will be a market for it.
💯
Probably a money loser they more focus on accumulating users. Cost less than an iPhone.
Oculus is a different beast than these. These are light weight. These are more likely something Normie's would adopt
Yea it looks cool but like you said this has a lot of sketchy use cases.
Surveillance in context of who ? : people who wear the glasses or the ones they are looking at ! ..
For the first category .. both are same . .. Meta can't survail you more if you are wearing glasses or carrying the phone .. cuz they anyway know everything about you :-)
Yes .. now you can be a ninja agent with a blink of an eye you can record your Barista , postman , teacher and people passing by 😭😭😭
O btw ... You support smartphones and care for surveillance ! That is a bit odd ..
These just scream Pedo Glasses
💯
Just had a severely dyslexic friend show me how much of a game changer it is for his life. He can order food, read signs, look at papers and documents discreetly without having his need called out. Love it for him.
Privacy narratives are a way to get featured on NPR :-) .. this is a way to bring the product into mass awareness .. get the conversation started .. if 1 percent bought , the narrative scales to next level ..
Yea a lot of good potential use cases for sure.
People should be shamed for pointing cameras at another person without asking first. This product wouldn't exist if people were polite and still asked before pointing a camera.

Phones have cameras. If someone is talking on their phone in public and they turn their head, they are pointing a camera at you. That's not to mention that eyeballs are actually cameras too.
What exactly is the scope and meaning of your criticism?
True. If you catch someone raping a child while wearing these glasses then you have to destroy the evidence or you will go to jail for recording child porn.
