My biggest issue with mastodon/activitypub is that your account is tied to an instance. So if the instance admin bans you you have to start over. With nostr you control your keys and social graph. This means noone can ban you and moving between relays is easy.

why can't Nostr be Mastodon w owning your ID?
That would solve 1 million problems
Yuup I just saw a post by a user today with screenshot of their post being taken down on Mastadon because they did the wrong kind of political speech. ๐ซค
I haven't used mastadon or activitypub, but I did use matrix for a while, including hosting a homsever just for myself. Isn't part of the idea of these federated services that you can host your own instance, or are these fundamentally different than matrix?
Is there a way to pull bluesky posts into nostr?
Hosting those servers is onerous, in comparison to our lightweight, nimble relays.
Yes
Yes and that structure affects (over complicates) the UX too
This is so fundamental ! Nostr is really the social network Bitcoin !
They banned me for talking about Dune the movie and Bitcoin
Yes, this is why I was researching how to spin up my own Mastedon instance, but then i came across NOSTR. ๐
This is straight #FACTS

Totally agree, this is why I could never get onboard with Mastodon. The structure is unreliable.
