My Easter egg find. Gave me one more little sister for the twins. What a find for 40€! Can't believe my luck sometimes! My absolute favourite mic in the world! The Sony ecm-ms957 field mic. Great for voice. Great for choirs. Great for field recording. With a parabolic it becomes a great directional mic. Great for acoustic guitar etc. And great as drum overhangs.!

In 1965 our local recordstore owner Roel Hemmes wrote the lyrics to my dad's first modest hit with the band https://nickyandtheshouts.nl called 'Dont be a fool' Because he also rented out jukeboxes to local bars and cafes. Their music was widely available! And helped them on their journey as one of 'the' beat groups from Groningen. Now 61 years later his store still exists,run by his sons called the 'Jongens van Hemmes' And the physical release of 'Film of Familiarity' on cassette tape will be sold in their store! The cirkel is round!

**In Memoriam: Appie Alberts** *(1946–2026)* It is with heavy hearts that we mark the passing of Appie Alberts—the legendary "Rock-n-Roll Doctor" of the Groningen music scene, a brilliant chemist, and a soul whose restless spirit defined an era of musical exploration. For GG Deluxe, and most personally for its lead member Ger Bol, Appie was far more than a bandmate; he was a catalyst, a mentor, and a lifelong inspiration. **The Scientist and the Saxophone** Appie Alberts lived a life of fascinating dualities. To the academic world, he was Dr. Alberts, a doctor of organic chemistry with multiple patents to his name, including pioneering work on biodegradable plastics. To the music world, he was the untamable saxophonist who famously declared, *"Rehearsing is for people who can’t do it."* This rebellious, improvisational philosophy was the heartbeat of every project he touched, from the Band of Hope and Glory, GG Deluxe and later on with great success with AA & the Doctors **A Bridge to the West Coast** The history of GG Deluxe cannot be told without Appie’s influence. In the late 1960s, Appie left the Netherlands to study in the United States. His time across the Atlantic became a gateway for his close friend Ger Bol. It was Appie’s firsthand experiences and his presence in the States that inspired Ger to eventually pack his bags and explore the American West Coast himself. That journey transformed Ger’s songwriting.
