concurrent wifi hotspot and wifi connection on Linux
anyone know how to achieve this?
my wifi chip can do it under Windows, no problem whatsoever, decent speeds too.
actually even under Linux, on gnome, i've used screencasting which sends via wifi direct.
but trying to set up a wifi hotspot? Absolute nightmare, wtf.

Yo hi! I usually post things about linguistics, science, biology, environmental science, health, and recently, some stuff on numbers. I'm an advocate for freedom of communication
I'm a bunch of things but I mainly focus on environmental science, training people into becoming scientists, and an array of aspects about communication. A strong future for humanity and life depends on good community and good communication. I accidentally became a linguist, and I've made a few alphabets, my latest one is called NewEng and it does a good job of encapsulating both English pronunciation & its accents, and English etymology.
a window manager feature i'd LOVE to see:
when you maximise/restore a window, the window dimensions actually resize between the states, through an animation transition, so that the window directly changes dimensions -- instead of the normal instantaneous dimension change with the faked scale animation
now google have moved google maps from maps.google.com only to google.com/maps, we can no longer have independent zoom levels for maps and other google domains. what the fuck is wrong with these developers.
anyone got pipewire running ok on systemd-less Linux yet? i have done a bit of searching but my brain is tired and my only sysVinit system is my server (and is also my teaching device with windows vm on it) so i'm a bit nervous of doing a buncha system surgery just for sound for pipewire-dependent apps.
basically only need it for screenrecording, everything else works fine. i am testing gpu-screen-recorder though and it's ok, doesn't need pipewire and tbh i don't need it to record sound anyway.
fucken pipewire and systemd fgs
I just transcribed the chords of this awesome Evanescence song from 2011, "What You Want"

So they're allowing ai generated code into the Linux kernel.
I'm sure nothing will go wrong.
i hope the kde dev community recognise the direction of the wind and don't make kde+plasma dependent on systemD. it's time to re-connect to the fully-modular nature of linux
when you look... you'll see quite how different the gnome devs are from the kde devs.
kde & plasma respect the user -- that's us, the community.
gnome fucking hate their users.
Photoshop is such a lil twerp. Even with 9GB free space, it refuses to run because "the scratch disks are full". Well I even attached a second SSD with 70GB free but it didn't accept that (despite it working fine last week)
more reasons to abandon systemD

Poettering and Bluca, both microsoft shills, weigh in on how they adore "AI" and then closed the issue as "not planned".
Linux is being destroyed & betrayed from within.

fun fact They don't want you to know:
Photoshop runs better without GPU acceleration than with it.
That means:
Photoshop works *actually pretty well* in a virtual machine.
You know, that very stable way of running Windows inside Linux when you just need to for whatever reason.
"Facts over feelings"
Facts describe the state of the world
Feelings can be used to give rise to a new world
Don't get caught up in the psyop that makes you ashamed for having and expressing feelings
The world is a co-creation, but if you dwell in the belief that facts are superior to feelings, how can we ever change anything?
Use feelings to guide us on the path to making the world a better place — for everyone.
If you could care less, then why don't you? 🤔
Pretty shitty that Figma, an entirely web-browser-based app, which works flawlessly on Linux, decided to implement their local font connection service using a user-agent string that whitelists Windows and macOS and for literally no reason. Several people have made font connector apps for Figma on Linux but Figma themselves have not cos apparently it's too hard
Do you ever just randomly re-realise that like most people go to bed before midnight?
