Europol has a long track record of anti-democratic behavior, especially when it comes to their take down barrages. They recklessly forwarded takedown request from random agencies in EU countries. Afaik there's no oversight in what they take down. IMO it needs to abolished.
Privacy obtained through encryption is what we call Freedom Tech and has more to do with democratic values or responsibility than forcing companies to harm their own products just because law enforcement can't do their job without lazy shortcuts. And guess what we - normal people trying to defend civil liberties where they are being attacked - do with all that, Catherine. We use it to route around damage caused by backdoors and surveillance you are so eager to put in place while sacrificing fundamental rights. Privacy is a human right since 1948 so get better or get REKT. You, and FT.

Fear not Europeans, America stands ready to bring you freedom. You guys still have plenty of oil in the North Sea, right?

Fuck them.
Notice the subtle rhetorical twist here, which I appreciate (because that's how they get nefarious things done): "Anonymity is not a fundamental right," she says, because she cannot use the word "privacy" and expect people to accept the message. View quoted note →

When the door is locked they would brute force the door open. Nothing is stopping them from trying to do the same in the digital realm.

we had the dark ages. Then a period of enlightenment. And now we are heading back.
These people are not right in the head. Luckily we have FOSS, Linux and Bitcoin. Unfortunately they are too dumb to realize they don't have a chance, so we'll have to put up with the nuisance of them trying anyway.🙄 View quoted note →

This is dangerous. Anonymity is a fundamental right; without it, no free speech.
