Yes it will, however different countries/regions have different frequencies that are reserved for amateur radio purposes.
These may require different components and antennas.

What hardware do you have?
Its just 2 T-BEAM's that i had from ages ago when i tried out meshtastic before, one with the included antenna on top of the roof of the car.
and one at home attached to antenna on the roof

It's pretty cool. Setting up a network in our city at the moment. Just ordered 2 solar nodes boxes from Rak today.

Its awesome 🙌 I also started Meshtastic like 3 weeks ago. Heltec V3 when I’m outside and tbeam always routing at home. Discovered already 200nodes in my area and did some chats with few of them 
yes. meshtastic is to try it out, reticulum is what we'll actually run after the apocalypse
Keep us posted if you do put up a high Van repeater. I may look at the same in the 6. ✌️
I might start with a solar repeater on the chimney (not in use) or as I as I have now.
