we discovered a great use case for bitchat at a conference: panel moderator on the cypherpunk stage used it to collect questions from the audience. it worked great.
no registration, no accounts, no qr codes, just pure mesh q&a.
I see this in the Google Play Store, but I thought that bitchat wasn't (yet) available in any stores, and was only available via a manual Indian of an apk.
Is this the real app?
Very cool. Great use case. I do wonder if this could lead to some verbal version of the WNBA dildo throws, with "trouble makers" in any given audience, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. 😄
This is awesome - was just hearing about difficulty with no signal at the Outside Lands concert… wonder if I can convince my teenager and her friends to give it a try.

Why doesn't bitchat keep running in the background? I had opened it and my girlfriend too, an hour later I went to the toilet outside the mountain cabin (without connection), but was out of paper. We weren't connected anymore so I couldn't message her for more paper haha. Any plans on improving this? It seems like you have to explicitly open the app both at the same time to make it work now.
with enough network effect many cool use cases become possible
the same should be true for tons of other technologies that failed to gather enough network effect
such as bitcoin and nostr
