i got overwhelmed by bitcoin content some 2+ years ago. i got bored by all that stuff. i stopped listen to podcasts, reading articles... last year i quit twitter, went nostr only, and i dont follow almost any bitcoin bro on nostr to avoid all the content that repeats over and over i published a couple of books on bitcoin in the meantime, but there was no pressure, it was all my own decision, doing just for the pure joy of creating and having done something that could last maybe ofc it was not possible to avoid the bip 110 drama completely. i registered the 2 tribes that had formed, and there were voices too loud on both sides. full of hate, humiliation, mockery. i thought i was understanding what was going on from distance, made my opinion, and let it flow recently i've read all 3 extensive articles by @npub1cjw4...j2rh — it made me to think about all the stuff, and here are some random bullet points with my point of view: —it's all bloody tribal, one is either in one camp, or in the other; feels like no scale, just binary positions (as i said, i follow it from a distance, so i understand, that only the loudest voices reach to me, and the loudest yelling are the most extreme ones ofc) —ive never been 100% to any of the sides—ive never deeply understood the tech aspect; i related with the philosophical intentions of 110, but i know that road to hell is paved by good intentions; i think it should be market to decide instead of an arbitrary pick, but the idea that censorship resistance doesnt equal zero rules feels compelling to me; mining centralization is a natural development for me to some extent, and so on... —ive never felt good vibes with luke jr, but after reading the articles, i think its a shame to get rid of such a dev and sort of a contrarian from the core team —despite my lack of technical understandings, it seems to me that lukes patch widening the then existed op_return limit to the witness data and the taproot thing felt logical —as the (made up?) intention of removing opreturn limit wasnt met and data inscribers keep using other methods that bloat the utxo set, it seems appropriate to me to get back (and perhaps include lukes patch) —the other layer of the core issue is way more important: ostracizing nondevs (and even devs not in line with the right official correct narrative) from debating is absolutely disgusting; creating an elite club that makes decisions without broader community, in advance, and behind closed doors feels like a totally hijacked project —dev funding seems to be the core of the core issue, but pointing it out and naming it is just one/first thing—addressing it is another. what are the proposals, the ways out? i cant help myself, but gloria was unfortunatelly true in this regard: there must be more funding streams than the current one; if there are no OG cypherpunk whales ready to step in, then the suits keep rolling if you feel its really either this or that, i dont follow. there is something tasty and something rotten everywhere. i dont know what is the good good. i just dont want to be blind follower of any faith. @npub1cjw4...j2rh said in the podcast that he considers *bitcoin a project on the brink of failure*.
