Don't use Snapchat, TikTok, or Instagram. Use Bitchat instead. It's wild to see live photos from France, where Bitchat usage is skyrocketing. (I didn't take this, but have permission to share.)
Third time I've installed this since it launched. Delete it, reinstall it, still nobody on it. Like 2 users in all of Canada every time I open it. App's dead on arrival.
Oh yea Def. That's fucked.
I find it odd that anonymity is so hard to come by.
I would actually think it'd be more common just bc it's literally MORE work to add Auth etc for developers working on mvp etc.
Someone is pushing this, but it's sus as fuck, if somone has time to assess it, it would be great:
Bitchat Shield (Android) : anti-spam et PoW réglable.
Still not sure why people has to switch from Briar to BitChat.
As far as I'm concern BitChat dilutes the protocol of Briar.
The two apps have to unify the protocol so it could be used more widely, because basically both the apps are doing the same thing, but on "different frequencies".
yeah it still needs a number to register, one SMS or voice call. after that you can set a username, set "who can see my number" and "find me by number" to nobody, and turn on registration lock with a PIN so the number can't be re-registered by someone else while your account is active.
one catch: a data-only eSIM can't receive the signup SMS, so use a line that can.
Oh, cool to see it's actually being used in France atm! I've scoured around my region (Viet Nam and SE Asia) and found nobody using it all and so I just guessed it was broken. Doesn't help that the Bluetooth mesh doesn't work between my three devices (and it used to)
Briar is cool but not very stable and the UI is awful. Not sure how well it works for public meshnet chatting. Firechat (Open Serval) was perfect but died a weird death
Bit it does not work on linux therefore it requires the use of closed source spyware operating systems such as ios and android.
Reticulum and LXMF is the best.
