Think Nostr is just Primal and a bunch of people zapping each other pictures of ostriches?
Not even close.
One of Nostr's greatest strengths is also one of its least appreciated: you aren't married to a particular website, company, interface, or algorithm.
Your identity exists independently of the client you use.
Don't like your feed? Change clients.
Don't like the interface? Change clients.
Want better relay controls? Change clients.
Want something resembling Reddit, Instagram, Discord, Medium, or YouTube? Somebody has probably built it.
And unlike traditional social networks, changing clients doesn't necessarily mean abandoning your identity, followers, or existing public posts.
I've assembled this directory of Nostr browser front ends and related web applications. Some are full social clients, others specialize in messaging, media, publishing, discovery, or protocol tools.
Some are polished. Some are experimental. Some are historical projects that may no longer function.
This is a project directory, not a guarantee that every website is currently online.

nostr is new and confusing but also really cool.
The real point of this list isn't that everyone should install 90 different clients.
It's that Nostr is a protocol, not a website.
A single identity can participate in many different interfaces, each with its own presentation, filters, algorithms, and priorities.
The network and the interface are separate things.
Some clients will survive. Others will disappear. Some will remain obscure experiments. A few might introduce ideas that eventually become standard.
That's how software ecosystems develop.
And it means no single front end gets to decide what Nostr should look like.
One important security reminder: use a trusted browser signer or remote signer when possible. Don't paste your private key into every experimental website you discover.
If you know a browser-based Nostr client missing from this directory, post it in the replies. Particularly interested in obscure projects, unusual interfaces, and developers experimenting with completely different approaches to social networking.
There is a lot more happening here than the usual timeline suggests.
