Potrošnja znači trošenje resursa – vremena, energije, novca i prirode. U idealnom svetu, potrošnja bi bila ravnoteža: ono što uzmeš iz prirode i zajednice, vratiš kroz stvaranje, rad i brigu. Ali danas ta ravnoteža ne postoji. Danas ljudi radije ulaze u dugove nego što stanu da proizvedu nešto sopstvenim rukama – nešto što bi moglo donositi plod i sutra. Potrošnja je postala norma, a samoodrživost i stvaranje potisnuti su na marginu, kao da su zastareli pojmovi. Da li je to zato što današnji “novac” nema vrednost, pa nas njegova mana tera na još veću potrošnju? Ili je stvar u tome da želimo da pokažemo neku “vrednost” spolja – auto, sat, garderobu, telefon – makar iznutra praznili sopstvenu slobodu? Kupovina na kredit deluje kao “racionalan potez” – uzmeš opremu, radiš više posla, zaradiš više istog tog bezvrednog novca. Ali šta onda? Opet ga trošiš, opet se vrtiš na traci koja ne staje. Više posla, više potrošnje, više dugova. Dug uvek nosi za sobom đubre, dok potrošnja vuče otpad iza sebe. Suprotno tome, samoodrživost nosi brigu – o prirodi, o zajednici i o samom sebi. Ljudi sumnjaju u Bitcoin, dok oni isti od kojih se zadužuju – kupuju baš njega. Lakše je nazvati ga prevarom nego priznati da problem leži u sistemu i našoj zavisnosti od potrošnje. Lakše je reći da si čudan ako biraš čvrst, pravi novac, nego priznati da sadašnji “novac” nestaje iz tvojih ruku svakim danom. Ali nije sramota okrenuti se Bitcoinu. Nije sramota želeti da čuvaš vrednost svog truda. Nije sramota skupljati sekundarne sirovine, jer dok sakupljaš, ti oslobađaš prirodu i oslobađaš sebe. Biti Bitcoiner znači biti spreman da učiš o pravom novcu, da preuzmeš odgovornost, da veruješ u slobodu i u drugog čoveka – a ne u sistem koji te oblikuje onako kako njemu odgovara. Ekipa je tu da priča o ovim temama. Da filozofira, da udara kontra, da misli svojom glavom. Jer čovek je tu zbog čoveka.
