Bitcoin conferences don't need more women-only events to attract more women to the space. What they actually need is to encourage all women to participate in all events, rather than isolating them. We often complain that men don’t know how to treat us or don't engage with women. But instead of isolating ourselves at exclusive brunches, why don't we show up, make ourselves visible, and let them know we're here? It’s uncomfortable to be alone, but it’s easier to lead by example when we're together in numbers. Men also have a responsibility to call out inappropriate behavior. However, isolating ourselves doesn’t create a truly safe space; it creates a bubble.

Found this post by @npub190dy...09r3 on Xitter today and it just shows how much noise there is out there. Bitcoin transactions per attendee tell us about the quality of the crowd that attends these conferences. Sometimes we get blinded by the shiny lights and big names but forget that NGU is not what matters. We need to live by our words and beliefs. I am also beyond proud to see how one of the smallest conferences in Europe, Baltic Honeybadger by @Hodl Hodl, has the highest number of transactions per attendee. Even prouder to work with and call my best friend, the mastermind behind this conference, @npub1zu5t...qtgz and to have done the same set up for @Bitcoin Atlantis with her. All of these conferences are organized by bitcoiners who do this because they clearly see the importance of leading by example. Like Anna, @André Loja, @Martin Kuchar, and @npub137x4...z69c are good people who put in the PoW to ensure their cities learn about and use #bitcoin. Great job, guys 👏! I want to be like all of you when I grow up! As the 3rd edition of the @Nostriga unconference approaches, I find myself with a mix of emotions. #NOSTRiga will be the last edition I help organize, and it’s deeply personal for me to step away from something that has become such an integral part of my life. This experience has been one of the most fulfilling of my life. I used to think that in order to contribute to FOSS, I had to be a developer. But I’ve learned that if you love something, you can always find a way to help it grow. Nostr.world unconferences have given me a new family—all of you on nostr—and some really close friends like every nostr.world core organizer @mcshane, @mads, @ExFrog, @Angela, @elidy, @Bitcoin Jungle, @DETERMINISTIC OPTIMISM 🌞, and my PR BFF @UNCLE ROCKSTAR. It’s because of this unconference that I found a home with the @The Nostr Report and @npub14kw5...j7y0 team. I love these guys: @corndalorian, @⚡️ᗪㄖ匚⚡️, @Lau, @Avi Burra, and @QW —my go-to trash-talking team. And honestly, there are so many more special individuals that I can’t tag you all, but everyone helping grow nostr has definitely touched my heart. Though it’s heartbreaking to move away from organizing this event, I am excited to focus on the other projects I am passionate about. This isn’t goodbye; I will still be here, continuing to contribute to FOSS with the different projects I am blessed to collaborate with, and working hard to create bridges to grow nostr and keep freedom of speech alive. Thanks to all of you for giving me this opportunity, especially @jack for trusting this whole team to deliver events around the world, allowing people to express themselves in the best environment possible. I can’t wait to see everyone in Riga for the whole Riga Bitcoin Week. I hope the next person who joins the team feels free to talk to me about anything they need. Here's a hard pill to swallow... #Nostr is not just a social media platform to replace [insert centralized SM here] because your bigotry and anti-woke ideas will be censored... your conservative bullshit thoughts are the last thing we need to concern ourselves with protecting. Decentralized protocols are built so that people in oppressed governments can communicate freely, so your basic Google research of homosexual porn is not saved on some server that will later come back to haunt your homophobic public self. Decentralized protocols, privacy, censorship-resistant tools are here to aid our data, our freedom of choice, to give a voice back to all of those who have been unjustly oppressed. If all you do is sit all day, shitposting stupid comments on how you are the better bitcoiner or nostrich because you run your own node, have never been KYCed, and throw hate at whatever tools and makeshift efforts others are using to try and build a future, you are not a better human, you are part of the problem, you are just loud, creating division and hate. FOSS is for everyone, and it should be used in the ways people can with the tools they have. Nothing infuriates me more than people so blinded by their own privilege that they can't understand that those who need the tools the most can't use them as easily as they can because of LIFE AND REASONS!
